This is for the linear title. Go on Deano!!!!, Erdei is shite now. Beating stiffs hasn't helped him.
The next linear Light Heavyweight Champion of the World-Dean Francis!!!!!

On the negative side, Warren will get the belt and will hold it hostage(much like Erdei has done) and then in time will make sure Cleverly wins the belt and defends it 20 times.

I don't mean to be cynical, but this all seems a bit convenient in the wake of Calzaghe splitting from Warren.....

And yet another Sports Network fighter gets a WBO shot having done jack to earn it.

I like Dean and know he has talent so I do not mind him getting this out of the blue title shot. The fight is one he can win.

Francis has a shot at winning this and I am delighted that after all of the injury trouble he has had he has finally got a chance. It certainly is one that he can win but at 34 it will probably be his first and last chance at glory. He will have to throw caution to the wind along with his right hand regardless of his injury worries.

Nah, Francis has no hope of winning this. I HOPE he does, I really do. And in his prime he'd have stopped Erdei I think (perhaps while being behind on points). But this version is too slow, too easy to hurt and far, far too cautious about throwing his right hand.

What is all this with Warren and the WBO? I'd like to think I know a lot about boxers but all this sort of stuff confuses the hell out of me. Ive read stuff about Warren being magically able to move fighters up rankings, get a title shot from nowhere etc but hows it all come about?

The same is true of Don King and the WBA & WBC.

The IBF don't get involved - but when they manage to get a decent champ they find a rule to invoke a chump mandatory and effectively force the holder to vacate.

Unless Francis is the mando and a promoter from the UK wins the purse bids, this will be in deepest Germany - even a KO won't be good enough as DQ will enter the equation.

Hopefully Sky/Setanta would get behind it and put up sufficient money

So you think Erdei is all that, having faced opponents that are barely 8 round level for the past 2 years......

No, I think Francis is shot and isn't much better than the opponents Erdei has been fighting. Erdei is capable of beating better than the opponents he has been fighting. Francis isn't capable of beating anyone much better than Oakey. He was capable of knocking out Erdei - over 11 years ago....
