With the additions of Majidov and Nistor, I started thinking about all of the guys out there who will be hypothetically at or near their primes. I leave out Povetkin, Chisora, Ortiz and Pulev, who I expect to be done. There are probably about 20 or so other guys that some put on the list as dark horse candidates to contend such as the Morrisons or Willis Meehan, but I think this represents a pretty good list of the heavyweight division in 3 years. Andrey Afonin Hemi Ahio Efe Ajagba Mario Briedis Daniel Dubois Ivan Dychko Junior Fa Hugh Fury Tyson Fury Murat Gassiev Filip Hrgovic Michal Hunter Bakhodir Jalolov Anthony Joshua Joe Joyce Agit Kabayel Adam Kownaki Arslanbek Makhmudov Charles Martin Demsey McKean Megomedrusal Majidov Jarell Miller Mihai Nistor Joe Parker Rostislov Pletcko Iegor Plevato Evgeny Romanov Andy Ruiz Vladyslav Sirenko Tyrone Spong Christian Thun Evgeny Tischenko Oleksandr Usyk Dillion Whyte Deontay Wilder Tony Yoko Oleksandr Zakhozhyi Zhilil Zhang Good God. We almost had a great division in 2015 before things went south again, but I think we are finally on the cusp.
Uh, a number of these are international amateur stars, a number established contenders and champions, a few are cruiserweight champs, and a few are mixed martial arts stars who may or may not succeed at the highest levels or boxing, but are at least tough fighting men who will make things interesting.
