If Wilder was rubbing his eyes, he had a fantasy, that he was a young Cassius Clay in 1964, and it was the 5th round against Sonny Liston. Then he woke up and had to apologize, because fantasies do not come true.

I was joking about this earlier today with a friend and quickly wondered why no one started a thread about this here. There we go...

I agree with that. They are all a bunch of geniuses. He was also pacing in the training room wasting energy while Fury was resting, and then they put on a restrictive mask that could interfere with getting oxygen. When you are hyped you need to be able to breathe. Just dumb all around, they did it to themselves.

Was there a rematch clause with the SUIT?

Ok, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and say the suit really did ruin his legs.
Would that really make him lose the way he did?

Wilder has confirmed that the 40 lb costume sapped him of his strength and did his legs in lol...

“He didn’t hurt me at all, but the simple fact is ... that my uniform was way too heavy for me,” Wilder told Yahoo Sports by telephone. “I didn’t have no legs from the beginning of the fight. In the third round, my legs were just shot all the way through. But I’m a warrior and people know that I’m a warrior. It could easily be told that I didn’t have legs or anything. A lot of people were telling me, ‘It looked like something was wrong with you.’ Something was, but when you’re in the ring, you have to bluff a lot of things. I tried my best to do so. I knew I didn’t have the legs because of my uniform.”

“I was only able to put it on [for the first time] the night before, but I didn’t think it was going to be that heavy. It weighed 40, 40-some pounds with the helmet and all the batteries. I wanted my tribute to be great for Black History Month. I wanted it to be good and I guess I put that before anything.”

In all my years of watching boxing, this has to be one of the craziest excuses, if not the craziest excuse I’ve ever heard.

you can’t even make this **** up even if you want to. A ring entrance costume made him lose the fight.

Let's see, the ring entrance outfit was too heavy (40 lbs). I have a leather coat that weighs that much. Waer it every day in winter.
The referee didn't help enough. He let him recover several times and I think didn't call one knockdown.
And he fires Breland. Who saved his ass.
This, to me, doesn't sound like a guy ready to make the changes needed to avoid another butt kickin'.
A lighter outfit, friendly ref and a yes man in his corner won't make him beat Fury.
Look what happened to Iron Mike when he fired his trainer.
