Andre Ward may have the better quality wins but his top 10 SMW wins contain the likes of Buchanan and Camou. Joe Calzaghe had 21 SMW title fights so he would obviously have more depth. Give Andre Ward a couple more fights to push the likes of Buchanan out of his top 10 wins and then I would agree.

Don't get me wrong, Ward is right on Calzaghe's heels in the SMW all time rankings.

- It took Joe Calzaghe 9 years to unify, Andre Ward did it in 2 years.
- It took Calzaghe 5 years to become #1 ranked SMW, Ward did it in a year.
- It took Calzaghe 9 years to become the Ring SMW champ, Ward did it in 2.

If you see the rate Andre Ward is moving, he would surpass Calzaghe in no time.

 

You have to compare achivments and acual H2 abillity.

Andre got the skills and is well clear from Joe on that one. As achomplishments go, Joe edges that one but just. In time Andre will be one of the greatest ever.

 

yeah I would agree that Ward is now neck and neck with Joe and its close, I am certainly not claiming that Calzaghe is miles behind Ward.
Its easy to argue that either is just ahead of the other, but Ward is the higher acheiving at the same age, whichever way one spins it.

If you rate Ward-Kessler higher than fair enough, but stop being a muppet and actually watch Calzaghe-Eubank, it was a very good fight and the commentators and fans all praised Eubank's performance. He fought a good fight and wasn't nearly as diminished as you continue to make out, though he was somewhat past his best, it was still a very good win over a top fighter at the time.

The fights with Collins were very close, as were the fights with Thompson (when Eubank was some 20 pounds above his natural weight!)

at you trying to glorify Kessler's opposition between the Calzaghe and Ward fights. Everyone knows Kessler was at his best up to the loss against Calzaghe, he has steadily looked worse and worse with each outing. I remember watching him fight Bouadla on eurosport last year and even the commentators were noting how much he'd faded. Though take nothing away, Ward's win over Kessler was very good
