Lets be realistic, hypothetically Andre Ward will probably never leave Jokeland or the USA.

Calzaghe built up the SMW division Ward then had the big fish nicely laid out on the table for him while Calzaghe had to deal with small fish under his promoter during is WBOgus reign of terror. The Super6 was key for Ward here.

For this reason, Collins, Hopkins (2002) and others easily bypassed Calzaghe because he was not a big enough name, while Ward is not easy to dodge as he is big name. Hence Ward is moving at a faster pace than Joe Calzaghe.

I would like to see Andre Ward come over to Nottingham try and unify the WBA, WBC and the IBF titles with a fight with Froch, but this is unrealistic. What other fights can Ward have "cross the sea"? Ward is the man, his credibility gives him the upper in negotiations.

Ward will probably never leave the USA, however he can travel to maybe Canada to face Bute/Pascal.

There's a big difference in that regard between Ward and Calzaghe.

Calzaghe conveniently stayed put in Whales while fighters like Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones jr were lighting things up @ 160 and 175 here in the States.

Who the hell is there for Ward to fight in Europe or Asia?

 

there are a few opponents, Steig, is one. But it would be difficult to find them after maybe a year or two of clearing them up, that probably explains why Calzaghe opted to fight such a **** chain of opponents for a decade before he met Kess and Lacy.

wow - a decade!! haha. ward wouldnt spend a month defending against such bums, he really is a different package and league to Joe Cal.
