Debate over. Andre Ward is the greatest SMW ever, well clear of Calzaghe.

    Coming from you that's hilarious. Poor Calzaghe dropped from the no 1 spot by a guy whose only had 5 title defenses:lol:

    Hilarious to think about how much time you've wasted reading and posting about Joe Calzaghe :nut

    Fair play for admitting it

    But seriously, have you posted on any other thread today but this one about Calzaghe? :lol:

    you spend more time writing and researching Calzaghe than bailey. But whilst bailey is a Calzaghe fan, that's fair enough

    You aren't a Calzaghe fan, yet you've wasted so much time writing and reading about him

    That's Pathetic :lol::lol:

    I some how think its unlikely that Calzaghe will be forgotten given that it's already been three years since he retired and people are still comparing him to the best Super Middleweights of today. A man who dominated his division and retired undefeated will never be forgotten in boxing history - how good he actually was will always be a matter of debate, and how he would stand up to the modern boxers will also be a subject matter.

    I'm not informed enough about either mans career to make an judgement over who is better or who's got the better resume, but I would suggest that Ward has had one advantage in the resume category that Calzaghe lacked - the Super 6 Tournament.

    How on earth do you have over 2k posts, within a year, when the only thing you know is the smw division from around 06 onwards? My advice would be to get away from your computer and get outside:lol::lol:

    I prefer not to rank fighters while their careers are ongoing, but if Ward was to retire tomorrow I'd probably put him ahead of Calzaghe on a quality>quantity basis. His top 3 wins (Kessler, Froch, Dawson) are better than Joe's (Eubank, Lacy, Kessler). Calzaghe beat a better version of Kessler, but I don't see how any version of Kessler threatens Ward. Eubank is often hyped as a big win for Calzaghe, but his record was 1-3 at SMW leading into the fight (Schommer was one of the worst decisions of the decade), and he never won another fight in his career.

    Calzaghe has better numbers, but wins over the likes of Sobot, Thornberry, Podwill and McIntyre are completely meaningless in assessing a fighter's resume.

    We still need to see more of Ward though. He always seems to hold all the aces when putting fights together, and he hasn't conclusively removed the doubts about his chin raised early in his career.

    I give the slight edge to Joe Calzaghe's resume still. Although Ward's top 5 wins are more impressive, Calzaghe has a little bit more depth when considering top 10 wins. Its up for a debate regardless.

    Andre Ward............VS.............Joe Calzaghe
    Froch.....................................Kessler
    Kessler...................................Eubank
    Dawson..................................Lacy
    Abraham.................................Mitchell
    Bika.......................................Brewer
    Green.....................................Woodhall
    Miranda...................................Bika
    Buchanan (?????)......................Sheika
    Camou (?????)..........................Veit (Who is also a ????????)
    ?????......................................Gimenez (?????)

    Quality = Ward
    Quantity = Calzaghe
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    Head to Head. Ward destroys Calzaghe in the ring. Destruction.

    Yeah man i'm all good. Great fights last night

    I find it hilarious when guys like Bailey bring out some of these meaningless stats. Joe's resume is not that good. Joe is a hall of famer but his level of competition was not that good. Most of his regin at 168 was a Joke. He only 1 really Good win at 168 and that was against Kessler. Lacy was overhyped, didnt beat anybody of note. The fact that Calzaghe fans have to big up his win over Woodhall, Reid and Byron Mitchell shows how poor, the competiton Joe faced was :lol::lol:. Joe may have 2 ATG on his resume but they were Past their prime. Jones was well past it, he was completely shot, Hopkins was Old. Hopkins never had the stamina he onced had and hes still was unlucky to lose to Joe. Andre may not have any ATG yet but there is no ATG out there to fight. Andre has fought the best out there and thats why hes in the conversation for being number 1 pound for pound right now. hes already beat the likes of Abraham, Kessler, Froch, Dawson in their primes and hes still like only 28 and hes already got a better resume than Calzaghe

    If the fight was at 175, Ward would still easily win. I don't think he knocks Dawson out at 175 but Ward would still outbox and outclass Dawson. Ward is just Special. There is nothing he can't do, he is a complete fighter and just overall better than Dawson. Ward just got too much IQ, ring generalship and Skill, I just couldnt see Dawson beating or coming close to beat Ward. Another reason i don't see Ward getting beat is becuase of his intangibles, Ward does whatever it takes to Win, even if he has to make it ugly, he will do what it takes.
