Debate over. Andre Ward is the greatest SMW ever, well clear of Calzaghe.

I can understand the argument. Ward is a special talent but Joe wins for me. Despite looking safe and in control throughout against Froch, Ward did tire in the last 2 losing both imo. Calzaghe would wear him out to a close win imo. Ward had similar problems vs. Bika too + Kessler gave up some fight and had a bad cut. I bet on Ward last night as part of a winning accumulator. Just imo but the weight was too much.

Andre Ward has clearly established himself as the greatest super middleweight. Until another 168 pounder wins a super six style tournament of the best fighters and then defends against the legitimate champion from the division above - then no one else can even come close.

I disagree with your throwaway stylistic analysis of Calzaghe-Ward but I can't really be arsed to offer more at the moment.

But yes, for me Ward is the no.1 super middleweight of all time. Although a prime Roy Jones would absolutely thrash him.

I hope Ward goes up to light heavyweight and cleans house now.

joe calzaghe is The only one in history to become Undisputed super middleweight champion he has had 24 championship fights has 3 ATGs on his resume
    Roy Jones Jr
    Chris Eubank
    Bernard Hopkins

Beat 3 Undefeated Fighters who were or became SMW champions

    mikkel kessler 40-0 world champion
    Mario Veit 30-0
    jeff lacy 21-0 world champion

joe calzaghe beat 10 world champions 9 of them smw (Veit had world interim title)

Chris Eubank, was a 2 weight champion and had 24 world tltle fights

Richie Woodhall had 6 world tltle fights

Roy Jones Jr was a 4 weight champion and had 25 world tltle fights

Bernard Hopkins, arguably the best middleweight of all time he has 25 world tltle fights

Mikkel Kessler, has 11 world tltle fights 3 x world champion

Robin Reid had 8 world tltle fights looked unlucky to Ottke by many

Byron Mitchell had 8 world tltle fights 2 x smw champion looked unlucky to Ottke by many

Jeff Lacy had 6 world tltle fights

when has Ward beat someone with over 20 championship fights?......

calzaghe beat 3 guy with over 24 championship fights

    NAME 1 ATG Ward FOUGHT?........

JOE CALZAGHE IS 1 OUT OF ONLY 3 BOXERS IN HISTORY TO BE UNDISPUTED AND UNDEFEATED WORLD CHAMPION

JOE CALZAGHE IS 1 OUT OF 4 MEN IN HISTORY TO HAVE OVER 20 TITLE DEFENCES

JOE CALZAGHE IS THE SECOND LONGEST-REIGNING WORLD CHAMPION IN HISTORY?.....

Ward needs that atg opponent. Joes win over Hopkins sets them apart for now IMO

 eubank is not even in the hall and they let about every brit who held a belt in. so in your opinion, ward needs to hold a meaningless belt for a decade and fight sub-par competition. then, he needs to fight a couple of former greats, but only when they are really old to be ranked ahead of joe? where should we rank jermain taylor, tarver and glen johnson? they all had better wins vs jones and hopkins than joe did.

Don't take Failey seriously. He has been dubbed Failey since he first was on here. He is the resident Boxrec warrior. Lol its comedy.

Dawson is hardly past his prime, but I think the lower weight did adversely impact "Bad Chad."

Joe C's performance against Eubank, while impressive, was not quite on par with Ward's last night.
