That night, he was as close to unbeatable as you can get. It's both the greatest win (eclipsing Benn over McClellan) and performance in the 'division'. Eubank's body did the impossible, but it wasn't natural.
I respect your opinion, but I could never omit Toney from the top 10. There’s nothing wrong with rating on H2H ability. It’s perfectly logical. None of those guys were as good as a prime version of Roy Jones, and Toney was also a top P4P fighter at the time. Toney was just a better fighter than guys like Collins, Kessler and Froch.
Beating Williams, Barkley and Littles is enough IMO, it's not a particularly deep division. But anyway, if you have Jones in there, then it's mostly due to him being #1 H2H. I don't see why Toney shouldn't get the same treatment, especially when his résumé is deeper than Jones' (at 168).
Rating on a H2H basis is extremely important though. It’s huge. In my opinion, a list without Toney isn’t credible.
You acting like Watson's performance was the best in history and only an unnatural act could beat him. Have you heard yourself lol.
Eubank himself has confirmed this, he should know as it was him in there! He beat a 25 year old Chris Eubank UP in every minute of every round. That's a fact. This wasn't a shell of Barkley, a shell of Toney or a shell in Lacy.
Eubank went on to defend that title 15x, 14 officially and one unofficially, not losing for four hectic years. Barkley, Toney and Lacy were done at the weight. It is what it is. You can't argue with the objectivity of it. And the fight itself shows Watson closing the gap while rolling with shots all night without respite, throwing blistering clusters of four, five and six shot combos while changing torso angle, digging the body and attacking on the diagonal - he was PHENOMENAL and at top pace
Yes, you can’t rate one and not the other. They both had about 7 fights there in a 2 year period. I don’t know if Toney’s resume is deeper. I think they’re close, but obviously Roy beat Toney which makes a big difference. Personally, I think that a list without Toney in the top 10 isn’t credible. Collins is on there and his resume isn’t that strong.
Nunn and Littles in 1991/1992 were two of the best ten boxers to pass through this new weight class. Maybe Toney would beat Nunn by going to the body early, but Jones would have kittens with Nunn. Littles beat Liles and looked fab.
