Golovkin is naturally the larger man. Looking closely at Brooks physique, He does appear to be a natural 154 pounder who drains himself to compete at WW. But make no mistake about it. Golovkin easily had the size advantage.
Brook weighed more at the weigh in and he was more RIPPED and in better shape than GGG. He weighed the same as GGG on fight night also whilst still looking ripped. So how exactly is he smaller. Brook killed himself bone dry to make 147 to pick on bums like Bizier, Jones, Senchenko, Dan, Robbles and Gavin in order to create this hype behind himself as a huge puncher at 147. With Eddie Hearn feeding us how all the top Welterweights are turning down mega money fights to fight him in the UK yet Spence jr has been ready for a long time but now Brook is too big for 147 so he'll vacate. There is a reason why he dodged big fights with Bradley, Maidana, Chaves, Alexander, it was so he could create a massive hype with the help of matchroom and keep calling Khan out for that mega payday of 10m dollars.
brook would completely destroy khan in the most embarrassing way yet... and khan has some lol spankings already. brook is all water and muscle, while ggg is all bone and sinew. brook has tiny bones wrapped in puffy, waterfilled muscles. ggg has thick bones wrapped in thin cable like muscles.
Brook carried the weight well, but its a matter of him not being accustomed in carring that weight in the ring where Golovkin has been doing it for years and accustomed to getting hit by full fledged middleweights as well. The one thing this fight showed me was that Golovkin finally met a fighter who boxistically is a high level fighter, and to me even with the Brook's eye damaged in round 2, he was getting the better of the exchanges over Golovkin. Anyone that's a Canelo fan should feel more assured that Golovkin isn't just going to step into a ring against a real skill fighter and just steamroll fighters like he's been doing the lesser crop of middleweights he's been facing.
Agree. Brook has been managed very well by Matchroom for getting paydays in fights against Mathew Hatton's, Senchenko's and Gavin. He has been poorly managed in terms of being in the competitive fights that would get him more credit across the pond. Eddie Hearn had him feasting on final eliminators when he was already highly ranked by the WBO in 2011. Eddie should have put up the money and brought Bradley/Alexander/Thurman come over to the UK instead of whining and claiming Brook is avoided like GGG has been avoided. Or well Brook should have gone to US just as Khan did.
According to boxrec.com height/reach stats Kell is 175/175, GGG is 179/178. Weight was roughly the same, so you decide whether it's a myth or no. For me it was more the structure of their muscles/bodies, rather than the size. Main difference was punching power and ability to cut the ring and impose one's style.
