Even though this is a boxing forum and watching boxing is one of my favorite activities if they banned boxing as a sport I'd understand and wouldn't object.

It's been 24 hours, why no updates on the card (especially with the tragedy bringing extra attention)?

No its just the constitution says to alter abolish those who try and take
my rights away , So if I can stick an ice pick in the eye of he who tries to take my right to fight away than I will be happy :good

Yea as that kind of thing happens , people will start getting more tired
of it,peoples rights should not be taken lightly,If a man says I should not
be able to fight or vote or what ever I should be able to unload my 9 mm
in their face and then maybe they will mind their own bizz !

    It's been linked twice, dumb****.

I also read it in the paper this morning (the Arkansas Democrat Gazette). It said Jones had no amateur fights on records, was 5'9, 240, and had been an all-state defensive football player in highschool. Likely no stranger to head trauma. He dropped from a single shot in the second round, was taken to the county hospital, then was tranferred to the University hospital (UAMS) in Little Rock where he died Sunday morning.

I have been told that Jones had no prior experience in boxing just like the commissioner that approved him to
fight a man that had around a 100 amateur fights. It looks as though my state of Arkansas has fallen victim
to the bureaucratic curse of politicians appointing their non-boxing knowledge friends to high positions in
the state commission. If this is true than the man who said he was going to clean up boxing in the state ofArkasnas
(By Getting rid of me I guess) apparently has no business in boxing other than holding a box of pop-corn in the crowd
with the rest of the fans.Stop the Madness , Give Boxing back to boxing before its to late.In my book Boxing is
entertainment and a man should not have to die for the price of a ticket...........

    Thank you

It's unusual to see ring deaths at heavier weights these days, and I guess part of that is because mis-matched fighters don't normally suffer sustained beatings at the higher weights due to the fact that they're facing guys who hit so hard they can stop you with only one or two punches.

But, given that Jones was going in there without any amateur experience, it's entirely possible that he had no real knowledge of how to absorb the shots that were coming his way. He may well have tightened up (adding to the impact of the blow), and he might not have instinctively tucked his head in as he fell- and if that happened, the secondary impact from that might well have been enough to end his life.

Either way, I can only send best wishes to his family and friends.

    RIP.
