Bad fight for Chavez Jr. Paulie should take this one by UD.

At what weight wil these guys box? I doubt if Jr. gets down to 140..so it won't be a title fight.Julio has been fighting at 154 lately, but i guess will come in at 147? So Mallignaggi will step up to 147? Chavez is considerably taller and rangier, and won't have to worry about getting hurt by Paulie.Of all the fighters Chavez could "call out", Paulie seems like a very careful choice. So, you may have to think that Chavez has a decent chance, or at least his people think so.

And he's about 20 classes below Mal in skill.

I'd love to see Chavez earning a hard fought decision but unfortunately, Paulie is going to take this one via clear Unanimous Decision.

I'd be surprised if this fight came off and even more surprised if Chavez were to win. I think Chavez has improved a lot from several years ago, and he might turn out to be a solid fighter, not great by any means, but solid. At this point though, he's not ready for Malignaggi. Even though I'm not a big fan of his I have to admit he's actually a good fighter. Skilled, speed, and a ton of heart and determination, Malignaggi is a handful for anyone around jr welter.

I'd like to see Chavez step up his competition, but not to the extent of Malignaggi. Doubt this fight happens, yet atleast, but if it does Malignaggi wins a minimum of 9 rounds.

    Malignaggi wins by comfortable UD.

Horrible move for Chavez Jr. if this does happen. Other than the fact that there is no chance for Jr's chin to get tested he is going to be beaten in most other areas. Such as boxing ability and movement.

If he wins, all the more props to him, but I can't see it happening.

I have to say though;I'm a little disappointed in Malignaggi's team - to be putting him up against Jr...I think it's a huge step down!

This is exactly how I'm looking at it.

Malinaggi is very hittable. He's nowhere a defensive type fighter.
.....and the fact if that if this fight happens it will be at 147 lbs and maybe higher.
Malinaggi is the one running his mouth right now, so if he wants the fight to really happen, he might have to come up as high as 150 lbs for the fight to happen.

I'm telling you guys, 140 lbs and 150 lbs are two totally different animals.
Chaves Jr. will tower over Mal and with a huge weight advantage.

......an intriguing fight for sure if it happens. Its certainly a step up in class for Jr. which will make it interesting.
But I'm a believer that Jr. has more skill than most in this forum will like to give him credit for.

I see Jr. parrying and digging to Mal's body......

Maybe my thinking will turn up wrong, but I'd pick Jr. by mamoth celebratory KO!

For you Jr. haters around here, the feeling will be that he picked on a midget. I doubt Jr. will get any credit what so ever, no matter how impressive a victory he may get!

.....and Kirk, maybe you can get Chavez Jr. to step in the ring with you after he whips Mal........ :D ;) I'm just kidding bro, I know you'll credit Jr. appropriately if he happens to get a nice victory vs Mal!:good
