I love how pride had a real show before a fight. This made the events look much bigger. In my view, Pride makes UFC look like a bunch of red-necks fighting in comparison.

Theres no question about it. Presentation is everything. But Dana and the UFC appeal to a demographic that is only interested in swilling beer and watching a street brawl.

    exactly!

PrideFC had a whole country behind it and the UFC can't even get it legalized in some states.

Thats entirely down to its image. Dana doesnt treat it with the respect that it deserves. The man is a business man and nothing else. He said himself in the beginning he wasnt a fan of the UFC and was apparently a massive fan of boxing. Now his willing to **** on boxing to give the UFC some kudos. He will do whatever it takes to keep his empire intact. In days gone by this was the same man that wanted to become a boxing promoter. He has as much depth as a sparrows puddle. A shrewd business man he is. A fan of MA he certainly is not.

Hah, funny stuff. "I think what is best for Pride 18 out of 24 hours" ~Sakakibara

"I think how can I stuff my wallet 18 out of 24 hours" ~Dana White

The first video explains it all. The Rickson Gracie vs Takada fight set the standard for super fight match ups bolstered by high end production value theatrics. Pride combined the best of MMA with the showmanship of professional wrestling.

That video is pretty amazing. I wonder if it's available somewhere. Will have to Netflix it or something.

That's the thing though, WWE put on good shows, and in my view, it caters strongly to idiots/ drunks. Why doesn't UFC make a better attempt at making their fights look big?

Because if it aint broke dont fix it. Dana and Zuffa see themselves as the big cheese. As far as im concerned his an opportunist. His interested in making money and nothing else. His NOT a fan of MMA. If he was PRIDE and the UFC would have been working together years ago. They bought the name raped it took what they wanted and dashed the rest.

Of course pride was more WWE like and even had fixed fights and a big presentation. A Japenese crowd is much different then an American crowd. North America has much more events to compete with like Football, basketball baseball, WWE, etc....Pride was huge and they make hero's out of their fighters which helped it become so big.
