I can't see how he stopped Tom McNeely and then was KO'd by Sonny Liston. That's a mystery that has kept me up many a night.

Why? Liston was much better than McNeeley.
    Also Floyd was underconfident, scared.
Otherwise the fight likely would have gone longer-with the same result.

Now, now, you never know. Maybe English isn't the guys mother tongue or some such as that? Give some benefits to doubts and all of that

Under D'Amato Floyd's first title reign was a joke .. Moore side , Jackson, Rademacher, Harris and London may be the worst series of title challengers in history .. I've never been all in on D'Amato .. find him very bright but paranoid and self serving .. Floyd eneded up fighting much better fighters late in his career and holding his own ..

I heard McNeely returned the favour to Patterson in a late night bar room brawl, with a drunken, two fisted blitzkrieg. McNeely's full powered drunken style wasn't allowed in the ring, and it hampered his career. What could've been.

Dude-& to the ironically inarticulate post by someone pretending English may not be my first language...
It seems that you are the one who is naive.

After you kept insisting on fake beliefs on the Tyson vs. Burns thread I saw what you are about, trolling.
But can you not see that many do *not* understand differences in quality of opposition, or when & how much size makes a difference?

I wonder if McNeeley could have defeated the referee that night ?
Referee was fat and about fifty years old, but I wonder if he had enough left to catch McNeely with a hook and end it.

LOL. So you're saying that prime McNeely may have gotten stopped by 50 year old Jersey Joe??

Among all the macho posturing & ego-driven fighting, your response is being a real man-& a Class Act.

    Thank you Mario.

No worries, and thanks. I must say, don't go getting use to that, I do have my reputation as a pretentious Richard-head to maintain and all of that sort of thing.

I was googling Richard-head b4 the penny dropped lol!
You were somewhat joking...But hopefully you will lose any attachment to being known for being your lower self.
This place has gotten much better over the years as those who act like angry, demeaning cliches have been weeded out.

Guys are much more likely to share respectfully & even bond than act fake tough from a safe remove & jockey for status (existing only in their own minds) by insulting others.
