Ok, I am intrigued enough at this point to hope for a Manny Pac Victory, even though I must reiterate that Oscar is a big scaredy cat for not taking on the challenge of the Red Hott Antonio Margarito, fresh off his win over Cotto at 147. That is the Fight of Boxing Fans, not Oscar picking on 130 pound opponents who are 5'4 with cowboy boots on. Manny Pacquiao has a few "Aces in the hole" that Oscar doesnt at this point in the game, and it might mean the difference of the fight. 1. Freddy "The Roachcoach" Roach. Roach has seen Oscar up close and personal. He knows of subtle flaws that we do not. What punches Oscar is more suceptible to, his movement in the ring, what rounds he really tires in, ect, ect. This is all in Manny's favor. 2. Manny is the KING of the Stamina Athletes. Is there a fighter in history who is more ripped? Able to fight harder as the rounds go on, than Manny Pac? He reminds me of a Muay Thai fighter in the way he is built, and the way he throws and blocks punches. Non-stop, and with fierce aggression. As the fight progresses, after 7, Manny will get stronger and faster, as Oscar begins to tire. This will be a factor in the scoring. 3. Speed. Oscar has historically, had some problems with fighters who have faster hands and feet. Sugar Shane, and PBF to name 2. Oscar is flat out used to being the faster, slicker man in the ring. When he is not, he has problems. 4. Manny's underated power. People are only seeing that Manny Pac is the smaller man. BUT he is P4P stronger than Oscar, physically. As far as pure punching power, at 147, I'd say they are about even. 5. The 147 pound division. I have been telling people for a long time, that Oscar at 147 is going to be one drained Dawn of the Dead looking corpse in there. He looked gaunt last year for the PBF weigh in. He looked like a prisoner from Les Miserables when he fought little Forbes at 150. Now he will be 3 pounds lighter. He supposedly is 145 now. Fine and well, but he is a man who stands 5'11. He really, in all reality is a middleweight, who fights at 154. But 147 is too much weight to lose. It is no longer 1996. In 1996, the Oscar that beat the Ghost of Chavez at jr, welters would probably have beaten this version of Manny Pac. He was that ****ing good. But it is 12 years later. Compare and contrast the 1980 version of Sugar Ray Leonard to the 1992 version, and you'll get my drift. 5. Support. To a true fighter, the crowd is meaningless. But to an EGOMANIAC like de la Hoya, it means something. He will have his share of Oscarsexuals from East LA who cheer him on. But it wont be like last time, PBF has more Haterz than fans. I know this, because I was at the Weigh in. 6500 people, and maybe 24 PBF fans including myself. I'm surprised I made it out of there without getting jumped, as I was sporting my Team Mayweather Gear. But I was also at the original Manny-Pac-Morales fight, and the Nationalism was CRAZY, those Filipinos revere Pacman like he is a God from the heavens. It will be different this time as well, as a lot of Mexicans are throwing support behind Manny Pac. Bottom line is that Manny has to fight like Ricky did last night. Keep it inside, dont allow Oscar to establish that jab, and lots of body shots. :deal
We all know Manny is a fighter. If Manny lose we won't hold anything against hime because we all know Oscar is too big for Manny. Manny's key to victory is to lay flat on his back the very first punch Oscar land on him. Start rolling around with a big facial pain and get into the knee position and pound on the canvas a couple of time. Get up and start walking back and forth saying the f-word like he can't believe what just happen. Take the money and go back down to 135-140 and then give us some real fight.
Kick-ass analysis, JP The moment's gonna come around the 8th round, when a driven DLH transforms to Golden Boy CEO.
