For Amir to drop down these "Rankings" he has to face a half-decent puncher!! The fact is the only time he has faced a big puncher he was brutally k'od in under a minute! And Willie Limond (skilled boxer though he is) who is a "Powder-puff" puncher had Amir in desperate trouble.
As has been stated before, Ortiz has a glass heart. He's a ****ing piece of **** for the interview he gave after quitting.
:good Khan might reign supreme at the top of these rankings for the next ten years. And I'm no Khan-hater, I admire his other skills, his speed, and his power and his attitude, but there's no denying he's got a pure glass chin, perhaps the weakest chin I've seen on a main event fighter in the 25 years I've been watching this sport.
Exactly, if a fighter gets KO'd repeated - particularly if the KOs are BRUTAL knockouts, that indicates a glass jaw, regardless of who puts them on the canvas. It shows a clear PATTERN of weak punch resistance.:yep
The lists are for top rated fighters only, and I produced an all-time list sometime earlier this year search for it if you like it had a lot of feedback !
No one denies that you can scour the ranks of tomato cans and find all sorts of Eric Crumble types who have worse punch resistance - but this is a list of world class fighters and contender types.
your also forgetting one crucial fact to your stupid and ever so flawed logic. at the end of the day, these guys may be supreme athletes but they're still human. your logic sounds like its inspired from boxing video games, where the guy with a weak chin going against a huge puncher will always lose. boxers aren't programmed machinery rico, you dont have to be a big puncher to knock someone out from a brilliantly placed punch. pernell whittaker has proven this. many factors can play into this rico: poor defense, leaving yourself open and not seeing the punch that hits you, hitting the opponent in a vital area (temple, square on the jaw, etc) or just being the better, stronger fighter on that day. like i said before, these guys are human and at the end of the day any of them can get knocked out good chin or not. Do you understand this? [/quote]
Decent point! Taylor's chin may not be iron, but it is usually the 12th round, when he is "Out on his feet" when he gets ko'd (Although I accept that Pavlik ko'd him in 7, but even then stamina was an issue). It is usually stamina that falis Taylor before his jaw (And the guys who beat him are genuine world class power punchers). A "Glass jawed" fighter usually gets ko'd/stopped whilst still "Running on a full tank".
in a sport that invloves two men with the intentions of punching each other in the face, who's to say any one of them is NOT at risk of getting knocked out simply because some of them are known to take a good punch??
To be fair, Salita has been knocked down by people who make Limond look like a power puncher. However, if Salita got starched 'Prescott style' horribly in the near future by someone with less than sensational power, I presume he would be the man to unseat Khan?
Such as Jason "three time world champion" Litzau and Audley "Future HOFer" Harrison? These guys are not world class or even elite. Harrison is an old man who was never good to begin with as a pro. What has Litzau achieved?
Say what you will about Harrison or Litzau, but they have been in contention at the world class level. They have glass jaws, but surely you would not say that they are at the level of those Eric Crumble type fighters that were posted??
I made one easy to make mistake. You still avoided answering else I mentioned. If your list is fair, why are only boxers from three nations on your list? Why is "British boxing" there when most boxers on the list are American? And you say you don't use xenophobia to judge this...please. It's either xenophobia or ignorance of the sport. Which?
