Good interview, as much as FW pees me off I gotta respect him on all but the Cleverley/Broadhurst answers. I hope he does go to Channel 5, he speaks right about the BBC, how can they justify paying stupid money for Forumla 1 (seeing cars go round and round and round a track lots of times) but no boxing AT ALL!! I hope the big names i F1 do go their own separate way next year to leave the BBC looking damn stupid in paying for lots of no names team racing for nothing, serves them right....look at Germany all the boxing over there is on terrerstrial and its huge...that's all we need over here, why is it so hard?

£3.5 billion a year from British licence payers and you're saying they cannot afford boxing??? Maybe they need to stop spending so much money stupid channels and radio stations? How many stations do you ****ers need? Do you really need the 'Asian Network' or BBC 9 (or whatever they're up to)??

had a reply from my complaint

"Thanks for your e-mail about sport on the BBC.

I understand that you feel that we should be covering more boxing across our channels as you feel that as one of Britain's most prestigious sports that it's upsetting that it's no longer shown. I also understand that you feel that boxing helps keep children off the streets and out of trouble and helps to teach them lessons in life and also that it encourages fund raising such as the efforts of Evander Holyfield and Sammy Retta.

The choice of sports to cover on our channels is frequently very difficult. We're more than aware that a sport of great interest to one sector of our audience may be of little interest to another. Our audiences don't look at events in the same way, and there's no one universal agenda that applies to all.

Scheduling is a complex process and although we would like to cover more sports across our channels there's simply not enough time to do so. Our choice has to be based on which sports we think will be acceptable and suitable to the majority and due to our audiences differing tastes we're aware that we can't please everyone all of the time.

We're also not able to obtain the rights to show certain sports due to financial constraints. As a public service we've to make judgements on how best to spend the licence fee and provide the best value for money and regrettably this means that we can't cover each individual sport in the detail that some of our viewers would like us to.

We do however have a site dedicated to boxing on bbc.co.uk which gives details and results of boxing matches throughout the UK and the world as well as interviews and videos of the top players.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/default.stm

I do acknowledge the strength of your views regarding boxing on the BBC therefore please be assured that I've registered your comments on our audience log. This is a daily report of audience feedback that's circulated to many BBC staff, including members of the BBC Executive Board, channel controllers and other senior managers.

The audience logs are seen as important documents that can help shape decisions about future programming and content.

Thanks once again for taking the time to contact us.

    Regards
