David Haye Public Workout, Tait & Barrett Added To "Stars Of The Future"

On Tuesday, September 16, members of the press and public are invited to Greenwich’s magnificent O2 Arena as guests of former WBC/WBA and WBO world cruiserweight champion David ‘The Hayemaker’ Haye. Proceedings kick off from 12pm. As well as working up a sweat in a public workout, Haye will also be joined by fellow Hayemaker Director Adam Booth and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer to announce the name of ‘The Hayemaker’s next heavyweight opponent..

As with Hayemaker Boxing’s successful forum in Rotherham, the O2 Arena floor will be open to both press and public. Naturally, this is a fantastic opportunity to quiz Haye on his impending heavyweight voyage as well as watch the man in action as he gears up to his heavyweight curtain raiser on November 15 at the O2 Arena – in a bout screened live and exclusively by Setanta Sports.

Also present on the day will be Hayemaker’s Head of Boxing Dave Coldwell and hot prospect George Groves.

Tait, Barrett Added To "Stars Of The Future" In London

Gavin Tait and Ryan Barrett join big punching heavyweight Scott Belshaw as veterans anchoring a show designed to help bring four promising professional debutantes to the public eye on Frank Maloney's "Stars of the Future" bill this Saturday night at London's historic York Hall.

Light welterweight Tait can always be counted on to deliver gutsy, hard-nosed performances and the Kent battler's contest on Saturday against rock-solid Coventry journeyman Baz Carey is sure to produce a thrilling test of wills.

Barrett will be looking to get back on the winning track following a failed British title bid at featherweight against John Simpson but the local southpaw must overcome the challenge posed by iron-chinned light welter Michael Frontin, who has lost his last two contests by a grand total of three points to ex-English lightweight champ Scott Lawton and undefeated hot prospect Nicki Smedley.

In the headlining bout, Belshaw meets seasoned Czech opponent Pavol Polakovic while heavyweight Tom Dallas, lightweight Liam Shinkwin, welterweight Vinnie Woolford and light middle Tomasz Grublys all make their pro debuts.

Frank Maloney Promotions presents "Stars of the Future" on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at York Hall in London, England. Tickets are priced at £50 and £30 and are available by logging onto www.frankmaloney.com or by calling the Box Office at 0871 226 1508.

Frank Maloney Promotions returns to York Hall on Friday, October 17, 2008 for "Dapa Napa" a massive show featuring Ian Napa challenging European bantamweight champion Carmelo Ballone, British super flyweight champion Andy Bell defending against Lee Haskins and Tony Oakey facing Courtney Fry for the vacant English light heavyweight title.

It seems like we will finally all know Haye's opponent by next Tuesday! So who do you guys think will be given the opportunity to take on the "Hayemaker"? Although, I would have preferred Haye to fight Toney, I think that Haye's choose the much safer option by fighting Rahman.

rahmans more dangerous than toney, rahmans always got the chance of knocking haye out whiletoney cant punch and will just take a beating.
also haye wouldnt fight toney for the fact that hes 5;10? hes ready to fight klit whos 6'7 next summer and so will atleast want someone the same size!

I doubt that Haye (although he regularly states so) will immediately go for Klitschko in case he wins his Novembre fight. I rather think that he will go for the WBC belt as he is already ranked n°4 in their rankings. If so, Toney would be a good choice in preparation for the 6"0 1/2 Peter (providing Peter gets past Vitali...).

If Rahman gets his spot back at the WBC top15 (since the last rankings the Toney TKO loss was changed to a NC, therefore he'll probably get his ranking position back), he'll be the opponent.
-ranked in the top10 by the WBC
-still one of the remaining US HW contenders (so US TV - Showtime - will be interested)
-former champ, big name for the public
-the Lennox Lewis connection (British public)
    -cheap
-not the biggest risk at the stage of his career

Haye is after the rankings, so if Rahman stays outside of the top15, we can expect Maskaev. Another winnable fight vs. a former champ with a low price tag. Maybe US TV will be interested in Oleg as well.

Toney would be nice but that will never happen. Toney wants too much money even if he's shot and his rep was destroyed by TWO steroid scandals.

    Johnson...
And what will you Americans make of that? Not much power, but unbeaten, good jab, not on the slide and past his best.
Any credit for this first fight since his permanent step up, or do you think it is ****?

That could very well be the case although I think that such a postponment would harm Haye's image a lot^.

I don't even care at this point. We already know it will be some guy with no power. Shut up and fight.

The opponent being announced is well over due so glad to hear its finally gonna happen but i have this bad feeling that its not gonna be the names mentioned above and that it will be a lesser opponent , it depends on how often Haye intends to fight but would be well pleased if it was Rahman

Well, Toney is much more dangerous than Rahman at this point. After all his talk you would ecpect Haye to take on a tougher test than Rahman. We are finally gonna finally see on 16 September how serious he really is.

He is going to pick Kevin Johnson...what a crock!! This guy is a bum...he has nothing but a jab. This fight will prove absolutely nothing. I wish he had some real stones and fought someone who was proven!! I hear Chris Arreola needs an opponent. Why not him? If he got past Cristobal, a victory would definitely merit a title fight...but, it won't happen. This guy is all talk!!

I completely agree that Haye's fight is long overdue and that his constant trash talking is annoying! He should back it up by fighting someone credible.
