If he'd done that in the night he might've won Channy! :)
( Not that he was ever getting the nod let's be clear)

Ironically it was Ducking his head down into that "undercut" that blew it....:(

I'm giving up on this thread now though, it's a bottom feeders magnet! :)

I meant just like in Canelo’s fight with Kovalev.

Sadly looked not like the same.
In this 1 round he get more than he get from Ward in 2 fights and Canelo + from Yarde together.
Eleider in their first fight had put very brutal beating in 1 round on Kovalev, holy God.

The real shame for BJS was fighting at SMW and having so much inactivity.

If he had one more top class matchup after Lemieux then fought Canelo at MW, it would have been one hell of a fight.

I think Canelo is rock solid at MW, but SMW is doing nothing for Saunders whereas it does benefit Canelo (depending on the opponent).

I didn't see Saunders winning that fight, but he showed enough to make me think he could have mixed well with Canelo and GGG as a prime middleweight.

That is it in a nutshell. He was doing well until he got his face broken by a punch and retired on his stool. That isn't that well if you think about it.

Interesting you mention the commentary team, To this day you & frochs' commentary partner are the only 2 I've personally seen describing the fight as anything but the beating it was,

How can it be a beating if Saunders was up 5-3?

    You're indoctrinated.

Definitely. Saunders when he’s in great shape, sharp and fast like a few of his middleweight wins would have given Canelo a tougher fight than he already did, and I would have picked him to do enough to beat GGG. Super Middleweight allows him a little bit more flexibility and slows him just that fraction that means he will fall just short of the top top guys.

He struggled with Juniors engine, GGG would have made him quit.

How about this? Maybe, just maybe BJS isn't as good as many of us thought. Put aside Canelo fight, was he ever really that good? Ok so he could box a bit but the way people were going on as if he was some master boxer. I mean when you think of it, Eubank Jnr was a novice when he thought BJS, yeah great engine but very low IQ and skill. It was a close fight when you think of it. Ok, i give him credit for beating Lee, a decent win. David L? Not really, he was an overhyped punching merchant, that's the reality.

Also, he was fighting at SMW because he wasn't disciplined enough to continue to make MW, simple.
