Too long? It's like half a post.... most of my articles are like three posts long. And here I thought I was being lazy.

Still needs to fight his first proper contender, though.

Sure, he was harder to hit against Dubois than he was against Hammer and I'll even grant for the sake of argument that he was more focused on defence in that fight...
BUT - Dubois isn't a massively accomplished fighter yet, he's still pretty green and whilst he's got good potential he just didn't ask that many questions of Joe, it was predictable enough that any experienced fighter with a good chin and decent fundamentals should be able to deal with.
Let's put it this way, there's no way that the Dubois of that fight gets anywhere near winning against any of the biggest names in the division (including Wilder and Whyte) - I'm just not completely buying that this was some kind of ninja defence against a masterful assault.

Joe badly needs to step up and fight someone decent - he's fighting nowhere near often enough and his resume is nowhere near deep enough to carry the claims that are often made about him being a threat to everyone in the division... It all adds up to needing to fight more often and fight someone more significant - whether that's Parker (shame it didn't happen) or whether it's someone like Whyte, Wilder, etc.

He can't be waiting for that title bout and wasting his time on second rate opponents forever, he's too old and too much in need of a stiffer test or two to gain experience at a higher level.

There's an impending risk, I think, that he's hanging around so long taking long breaks between insignificant fights that he risks being a "what if", with his likely loss to Usyk or AJ blamed on his age and inactivity rather than to him having tried to jump too big a chasm between his best win and his failure against the the cream of his generation (a bit like Wilder tried to jump too big a chasm between gatekeeper Ortiz and a legit champion level fighter in Fury).

    /IMHO.

He could grow old overnight the first time he faces anyone top notch.

Indeed, that's kinda my point - the moment he loses, it'll be "he's too old, he would've whooped this guy in his prime" and/or "they waited for Joe to decline before they'd dare fight him".

He looks good at the level he's been fighting at, but that's like saying Wilder looked like an unstoppable KO machine (which he did at the level he'd been fighting at, then he fights his first real contender and even when that guy is rusty and out of shape he's embarrassing him in most rounds).

To be "real" you gotta fight "real" and beat "real" and Joyce hasn't yet - what he might be able to beat is speculative, he ain't proven it yet.

    Excellent work

Let me just preface this by saying that the biggest mistake Big Joe's critics make when it comes to evaluating him is that they believe what their eyes see and what their brains process from the information their eyes relay to their brains

In order to understand Big Joe's genius you first need to understand you're looking at an optical illusion

    Something which doesn't exist

Something which isn't there when you reach out to grab it

Something which is a paradoxical enigma

You have to think outside of the box whilst simultaneously thinking inside it

How can something be simultaneously boiling hot and freezing cold?

How can you be simultaneously fast asleep whilst wide awake?

    It makes no sense, right?

To truly comprehend the paradoxical enigma that is Big Joe Joyce you need to able to hear the silence in defending noise

To see light in the pitch dark

To understand that fire can be extinguished with fire

People assume that because Joe isn't the hare he must be the tortoise

This is the mistake so many of you make

    Joe is not the hare

But he's not the tortoise either

Big Joe Joyce is the tortoise-hare

    All this is great

Unless the first time he steps up to face a genuine Top-10 HW

He is shown to be the stiff slow lumbering behemoth that we all thought.

Maybe there is no "optical illusion"

Basically a heavyweight Margarito.....but nowhere near as good.

He is clumsy...he is oafish...he is carried by his chin...I find him extremely unremarkable and very forgettable...I genuinely forget he's around until the weekend of his fights.

I maintain if we were in the 90s Joyce wouldn't be anything near world level....but lucky for him ..he isn't.

Reading this post was the closest I’ve ever been to tripping and stoned without actually tripping and being stoned :hydrogen:
I saw the music and heard the colors with this one, my man…and it’s been years since that happened ;)

Yeah, maybe I was wrong when I saw a washed up Hammer land at will on Joyce's face. I guess you'll always perfectly defend punches if you block them with your face...
