It is time 2 remind n discuss a few facts about d fab 4 . 1) Wilfredo Benitez is extremely overrated . (1.1) D man probably lost twice (at least 1ce) 2 Bruce Curry . (1.2) IDK how credible his wins over Duran n Palomino r/were 2) Ray Leonard stopped drained (2.1) Hearns , (2.2) Benitez , (2.3) Duran , (2.4) Lalonde . Neither of these guys fought @ 147 after their fights with him . (2.3) I read that he admitted 2 have rematched Duran @ a time when he knew Duran would not have been in shape 2 fight . (2.4) Dony Lalonde, a lightheavyweight dragged down 4 money's sake 2 167lbs 4 a title 4 both "supermiddleweight" and "lightheavyweight" titles both in 1 fight. (2.5) most importantly , not only his "victory" over an older eroded Hagler was not a win , it is even bull**** as a fight - he had thickly padded gloves , big ring and 12 rounds instead of 15 . Hagler would have stopped him under normal (for that time) circumstances even past his prime as he actually was going in against Leonard . (2.5) Leonard was beaten by Hearns in their rematch but got a draw , and guess what, Hearns was even drained in this 1, this time by a catchweight . //// brought here 4d sake of saving my good observations : Leonard's ring , gloves , length of a fight , and if that was not enough , then Leonard was d younger man and d taller man (but Hagler would have easily overcame it a few yrs earlier) , and given Leonard's prowess of catching fighters exactly when they could not make their w8 anymore, I wud not hev bin surprised if Hagler had trouble making 160 : Benitez was drained vs Leonard, never made 147 again Hearns was drained vs Leonard, never made 147 again Duran was drained vs Leonard (in their rematch), never made 147 again Kalule was drained vs Leonard, should have moved up from 154 Lalonde was drained vs Leonard, never made 168 (actually 167) again Hearns was even drained vs Leonard in their rematch. c d pattern? take these 6 "wins" (including Hagler) and d draw and Leonard remains as wot hi rili woz: another disputed 147lbs titlist whom avoided his best opponents @ their best. Leonard was d biggest catchweight king in history bar none: bigger than Jones, bigger than Pacquiao, bigger than Hopkins Leonard thought that Camacho (past his prime himself by d time when they fought) would have been small enough 4 him 2 record another BS "victory", but how wrong he was :yep //// 3) Hagler ruled over a weak middleweight division . There was a thread here that asked : who was Hagler's best opponent @ MW . 4) Duran (4.1) is overrated as a lightweight - he fouled vs Ken Buchanan and I think not just him and (4.2) against Davey Moore @ 154 , Moore came in with a severe injury in his jaw and Duran also thumbed him 2 win a really bull**** TKO . His win over Barkley looks impressive both on paper and on film , but Barkley was probably drained and weakened against him . 5) Hearns was a clean fighter as far as I know but his losses exclude him from my top 80 p4p (even top 100) at least . He even showed his vulnerability in some of his (listed) victories (Kinchen , Sims , Roldan) . My ranking of them is : h2h : 1) Hagler 2.1) Sims 2.2) Barkley 2.3) Hearns 2.4) Leonard 3.1) Benitez 3.2) Duran If I had 2 put Benn in , he would have been placed above Sims and below Hagler . Davey Moore KOd Benitez and would have probably beat Duran if both his injury and d thumbing did not occur , despite being supposedly inexperienced . p4p : 1) Duran 2.1) Hagler 2.2) Leonard 3) Sims 4.1) Hearns 4.2) Barkley I'd put Palomino just below Leonard (because of Andy Price & Dave Green)
It fills me with an all-consuming irrational rage when elderly people feel the need to type like toddlers. Just because you have diapers in common doesn't mean you need to go seeking out anything else to bond over. It's contrived and embarrassing. Cringe-worthy. If you were alive before there were computers (the giant fill-the-room kind) you should not use "computer lingo/text speak".
I think so. I don't know. Us whippersnappers are a minority in the Classic. Many of the posters here who are known to be of the "mature" variety do present themselves in this manner that suggests anything but maturity.
Leonard was Benitez' last fight ever @ 147 , which suggests that he was drained @ d weight by that time . @ 154 , Benitez would have outpointed Leonard , and only that fight that didn't happen is what mattered in regards 2 Leonard vs Benitez . But somehow Leonard was Hearns' last fight @ 147 , Benitez' last fight @ 147 , Duran's last fight @ 147 , Duran's last fight @ 160 , Hagler's last fight overall , brought a reigning 175 titlist down 2 168 2 gain both d 175 and 168 trinkets . Also , Ayub Kalule was known 2 having huge troubles making 154 (some1 bring Magnes Palle's quote) and 4 d Hearns rematch Leonard made sure 2 drain Hearns again , this time 2 164 , still deserved 2 lose but got a gift draw . Even Dave Green never came back 2 147 after Leonard stopped him there . I might even find a few more such cases in his earlier career but i think it reveals n interesting pattern in these serial coincidences . Did Leonard beat ppl's ability 2 make their weight out of them ? what was it about him ?
