That is one reason he wanted the Williams fight. He didn't fake a staph infection and a near fatal reaction to the medication to duck Paul Williams. Again, if it wasn't for Kelly wanting that fight it would never have gotten as far as it did. He had to give up some of his purse to get Williams in the ring. The offer is still on the table. It would still be Williams highest pay day. I have actually been against the fight from the beginning because I think it is a very bad match up for Paul Williams. He doesn't have the weight to fight Kelly.

Goosen got Paul frozen out of the WW scene by screwing with Arum over the Pavlik fight the first time around. It's a shame cuz the guy can still make welter according to those around him. He has to eat extra to make minimum weight to fight at MW. This is not a GOOD THING against Pavlik.

Has Maywheather really tried to protect his '0' that much?
Im not his biggest fan but do admire his skills and I dont buy it when people say hes protecting his '0' with the big names hes fought in
    G Hernandez
    D Corrales (undefeated)
    J Chavez
    J L Castillo
    Z Judah
    O D L Hoya
    R Hatton (undefeated)

Sure Williams is judged for a fight he lost 3 years ago, and hes done well since, but he also recently struggled with LMW S Martinez whos a good fighter but not as good as Maywheather skill wise. Im sure Williams size could give Floyd some trouble, but can Williams still safely make WW, and if Floyd is comfy at the weight why move up again when theres not much at stake?

It looks like Martinez next. They also have been in discussions with Mundine and Sturm. Bute is reported to want a fight, but this fight is too soon because of the tourney. Lockett, Rubio and even Espino could be considered mandatories. It was Espino or be stripped. Williams was going to be the first voluntary and he was chosen by Pavlik. He got side tracked trying to get a fight with Calzaghe, a fight the boxing world really wanted.

Calzaghe would have slapped fire out of Pavliks face!! It would have looked like the 4th of July in the ring!!!!!!

Since Kelly was willing to fight Calzaghe why won't Kelly fight Bute now?????????

Calzaghe fought at SMW and LHW so Kelly would have to step in weight some to face him, right? Now Bute is available so step up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those trinket belts mean nothing to me they are just an excuse for fighters to duck other fighters. You have to pay for them just to keep them which is just plain stupid. Pavlik has the Ring belt thats all he should worry about. Martinez I can dig I just hope this isnt another case of Martinez needing a knockout to get a draw.

Same about the trinkets but they do have a ton of commercial value and that is a fact.
