GUys like Locche, Benitez, Whitaker, Canto, and Pep are among the very best in this regard. Underrated swarming types in this regard include Frazier and especially Qawi, both of whom had excellent bob and weave head movement, which Qawi would use to gain momentum to counter with huge shots. Duran is another one of the best defensive fighters of all time, and one of the most underrated.
Nicolino Loche was amazing, i have seen him numerous times and in this particular bout he is pure genius, he hardly got caught against a quite extrordinary fighter himself in Cervantez.......... Rare skills indeed.... Untouchable is an understated monicker....
Locche looked FAR better against Fuji than in the second bout with Cervantes (which he actually lost on cuts in the 10th). I'd love to have seen the first bout, unfortunately I'm pretty sure the film doesn't exist. Apparently Locche shut Cervantes out over 15 on all 3 judge's scorecards. Thwt would've been something to see. More footage of the man in general would've been great, though you can still see just how phenomenally skilled he was in the limited footage available.
Would've been something to see for sure. The thing is, even at that point Locche was past his prime, though it must be said that Cervantes was a bit green.
