Defensive fighters are treated unfairly in this era

It really seems like counterpunches/points fighters today are extremely undermined and not discussed enough as a whole of course.

Fighters like Rigo/Vasquez/Erislandy/Ward/Hopkins/Wlad/Abril/Guzman and even Floyd to some degree amongst many others are usually getting the short end of the stick in decisions because of how they fight even though it's brilliant most of the times

Promoters tend to pay them less, undervalue them, undermine them and it's really sad to see.

I understand boxing is a business but it's really gotten to the point where entertainment > winning and I do not believe that upcoming fighters will want to prioritize defense seeing as how many of the defensive fighters today are being treated by fans/promoters today.

The boxing scene in the future scares me.

I truly believe that if something doesn't change in the near future, boxing ability will dissipate and one dimensional brawlers will take over the scene. Soon, boxing will become brawling. Don't want to see that.

 

I don't think you understand or appreciate the sweet science, maybe brawling is more up your alley.

I fear for the boxing scene in the future, it's gotten to that point where defense is seriously becoming less and less important in the sport of boxing.
