Man that is tough. Both are great. To be honest I really can't decide.

If I had to a gun to my head forcing me to choose, I'd probably say Whitaker.

Both are at the top of the list but one thing for sure is that PBF is in a lot better position for the counter than Pea was. Something that can't be overlooked.

Shut the **** up you delusional ****ing hater. Whether you like it or not PBF is an ATG and one fo the best fighters of this era.

    Whitaker had better defensive skills.

However, Mayweather is the more complete fighter.

    Definitely whitaker.
Although that's no insult to floyd who himself has an atg defence

Whitaker, a guy that makes you miss completely is even more frustrating than a guy that blocks most of your shots.
I also enjoy watching whitaker fight more than I do like to see Floyd fight.

probably Whitaker, if he wasn't showboating and trying to look too slick.

Sweet Pea should be up there as the best defensive fighter ever with the Wisp. Floyd defense is not as good but he has more pop in his punches

Defensively, Whitaker was one class above floyd. but floyd's offense is better.

Floyd Mayweather. Whitaker was great at making you miss. But Floyd has 3 different defensive styles. Floyd may use movement: left-left right-right all night like he did against Corrales and Baldomir. Floyd may walk you down behind a high guard ala Winky Wright like he did to Zab. Or Floyd can use the shoulder roll defence.

Can you tell me why you think Pernell is a full class above PBF?

Mayweather's D has more layers, but I'd argue that it's easier to appear to connect cleanly against him than it ever was with Sweet Pea. Don't think for a moment that this fact doesn't come into play during these types of debates.

They're in same discussion in terms of defensive genius- but I must confess I tend to mention Whitaker's name first most times, before bringing up Mayweather's defensive prowess.
