Punching harder does not = better offensively.

Whitaker attacked with combinations to the head & body, Floyd rarely throws combinations that consist of more than the 1-2 left-right, Floyd`s single shots are a thing of beauty, lazer-like accurate, I love watching him box... but he was not as good offensively as Whitaker IMO.

Lets stop the bull**** here, **** the corrupt judges, Whitaker`s win over undefeated p4p no1 Chavez is better than anything Mayweather has ever done & ever will do... unless he does the honourable thing next & fights Pac (I think Floyd beats Pac personally but wont hold my breath for the fight.)

Whitaker's defense was just more flashy, i.e., unorthodox, i.e., **** you wouldn't teach in the gym.

My thing is people are acting as if Pernell's resume is light years ahead of Floyd's and its not at all...but Floyd has a million more haters that Sweet-pea so that **** is factoring in this defense poll...

Sweet-pea has maybe two fights more than Floyd and when Pernell lost to Felix and Oscar he was around the same age as Floyd is now so I say Floyd who is still undefeated is more effective and better with his defense than Pernell was...

Age is nothing but a number. It tells me nothing. Whitaker was well past his best days against Oscar, and still arguably won the fight. He was a shell of his former great self against Trinidad, and still had his moments and more than held his own for a bit.

It says a lot about conditioning and taking care of your body at the advanced ages, Floyd is 34 soon to be 35, Pernell was 33 against Felix so saying age is irrelevant is bull****..its fair to say that Sweet-pea wasn't in any wars so if his defense is so good he should have still been as good in his mid 30's...to say he was well past his prime against Oscar at 35 and a shell of his former self against Felix at 33 says even more about his technical ability and his ability to perform at a high level into his 30's...

Floyd by the thinnest of margins...More dimensions to his defense.

I don't know why, but lemme down for you real quick...

Whitaker already had a serious drug problem for a number of years when he fought De La Hoya. Whitaker was a full-fledged crackhead by the time Trinidad got to him. If you pull up Whitaker's fights and watch them in chronological order, you'll see a massive slippage. Dude was a fraction of what he used to be by that point.

The fact that he had a close fight with Oscar and lost to Trinidad in his mid 30s says nothing about his technical ability. It says he was a crackhead on a free-fall. And as it stands, he still arguably beat De La Hoya. Why is this so difficult for you to understand? If you put so much stock into longevity and ignore the ****ing FACTS and EVIDENCE, then Bernard Hopkins must be the most technically skilled and best defensive fighter of all time. And we all know that isn't the case. And look at Mike Tyson. Well past-it in his late 20's. Does that somehow mean his technical skills didn't match up to Wladimir Klitschko, who is going strong in his mid-30s?

Fighters peak and decline at different ages. Everybody's body is different. Everybody's circumstances are different. There's no concrete formula to this. The sooner you grasp this concept, the more embarrassment you'll save yourself.

    ;)

    are you fukin insane?

that is such a **** breakdown of resume; I'm disgusted at the double standard!

you class jmm for floyd but not ramirez, chavez, vasquez, rivera, hoya, nazario, mayweather, pendleton, jones, paez, hurtado etc.

the resume's are so far apart it isn't even worthy of debate. do some fukin research fool.

Just because he chose to smoke crack is his own fault, it just left room for excuses, this is an opinion poll and Floyd is better than Sweet-pea imo and their resumes aren't that far apart and I give Floyd the edge on defense, the sooner you grasp that the sooner you will not have to try and get me to see it your way..
