We suppose that Floyd has a good chin, but who really knows ? He sure doesn't get hit much. His defense overshadows his chin too much for this thread haha. I think the only time I've seen him take a clear power shot is against Mosley (stayed up but he lost his legs for a few seconds) and against Judah (should've count for a flash KD) and each time he cleared his head before the round was over.
The Judah punch was a KD, poor refereeing. Even then, it was a flash KD, I don't think Floyd was hurt, he got caught lunging in by a perfect counter. Against Mosley he took two hard right hands, off a legit power puncher that he didn't see coming, they shook him up but he took them well and kept coming forward. He has taken good shots on the chin from the likes Corley, Castillo, Judah, Hatton, Cotto, Mosley, Ortiz and all of those guys were legit punchers.
I don't believe Floyd has a chin of steel. He can take a punch, that's true, but his chin is not that good.
Good lateral movement? His head and upper body movement was insanely good! He was a specialist of everything pretty much, for a while. He wasn't a defensive fighter, but his defence, for his style is on a par with any of the actual 'defensive' stylists. Absolutely brilliant defensively. For a while.
That is fair, there are a few mentions thus far that don't fit the bill by a stricter criteria than I was originally using as a gauge. Well, not Zapata.
well yeah everyone could be hurt and pea wouldn't be on the level of fighters we never even saw rocked, but guys like him and Toney are as good as you'll get for the question Anyone remember Loui Lomeli briefly bucking Pea's legs with a shot he didn't see coming, because he wasn't giving him any respect.with a merely serviceable chin that might have been the start of a Zapata Ursua-esque disaster.
Tyson had underrated defensive skill, but overrated defensive effectiveness. Dude still got tagged by bums.
Aside from JT's iron chin, SJ, didn'tya appreciate how he stood in the pocket 'n made guys miss 'n pay?
