Shot to me means that a fighter can no longer close the gap effectively or time counters. Fighters operate in split seconds and when the timing goes things fall apart.

The fighter also becomes more susceptible to being damaged and his punch resistance falls to ****. He is easy prey for great fighters and susceptible to ordinary ones.

Someone just referred to De La Hoya as shot against Mayweather. Oscar was 34 years of age, finely tuned and fighting at his optimum weight class. He fought extremely well in that fight despite dropping the decision. Are there grounds to say he was shot? AND if he was, what the **** would you call the Oscar who fought Manny?

    Examples of shot:

    Louis vs. Marciano
Ali vs. Spinks (I won't even count anything after that)
    Leonard vs. Norris
    Vargas vs. Mosley II
    Jones vs. Tarver III
    Gatti vs. Gomez

I could go on but you get the point.

    Thoughts!

Shot = less than 70% of prime skills.

Less reflexes, less speed, less stamina.

By ESB standards, anyone who loses a fight is immediately shot.

Poor balance is the biggest indicator imo, also, just a general fragile look, Rahman vs Wlad( fragile), Morales vs Raheem(Balance)

    My personal opinion.

When a dude gets tired, loses his legs, has less reflexes.... that's when he is shot to me.

Can't pull the trigger you can see the brain working but the body just won't respond.

How does that not make it sad to see them go out like that? Maybe if you don't like the boxer.

Those aren't the type of fights I would watch twice.

    It's sad, but it's common.

No fighter knows when to quit.
