Pavlik never was stripped of the WBA & IBF belts, Taylor was. Under your rules desruction of Miranda counts less than AA's and Sturm alphabetic belts.

By what standard do you propose that we indentify a universally recognized champ? How can a champ be universally (universal meaning all) recognized if the major sanctioning bodies have different people as their recognized champ?

Miranda never held a title. Why would it count more?

So do you propose that simply any 3 of the 4 ABC belts need to be unified in order to creat an undisputed champ?

imo undisputed means that the champion holds all versions of a title. as long as there is a title that he does not hold, it can be disputed. as there is someone to lay claim to being a "champion"

the only time this does not apply is in the case of a fighter being stripped. bhop was undisputed. i dont remember if taylor won all of the belts. if he did, he was undisputed. pavlik although linear, is not undisputed as there are other title holders.

depends on the situation/circumstance really. this line of thinking would apply in a case such as the one we have at 115 at the moment.

Elaborate. Everyone seems to hate my standard. I would like to see what standards others hold.

Wlad has 2 belts already, beat the goat herder who has 1, and the white tyson wants no part of him.

wlad would be at least a 3-1 favorite over any man he steps into the ring with. he generates the most interest. he has the best tv contract and generates the most cash. who else can claim that in boxing? sounds like he is the man to beat in the division to me. the belts dont mean a thing, the fighters do

The WBO does not factor into my proposed standards

Because sanctioning bodies are not respected at all and theirs baublebearers are not recognised as champions also.

So do you consider Wlad to be the undisputed champ? And what is your criterea for naming an undisputed champ?

thonly way i could see 3 out of four currently, is the hw division. where if wlad unifies, and without fighting peter, i would consider him undisputed, as he has already beaten the holder of the one belt he does nt have.

but once peter is beaten, a case can be made to the contrary.

Because he would hold if not the politics. AA is currently holding his title.

So if fighter A beats fighter B, then fighter B later wins a title; fighter A can become undisputed without beating fighter B for his title?
