Fine thanks, sorry forgot I wasn't allowed an opinion on here? Froch would beat Kovalev no doubt in my mind, I don't see anything to suggest that he beats Froch, but no point talking about it anyway because neither will step up or down for the fight. I only spoke about it because someone said he was ducking him.

Just an extremely audacious call is all, would still like to hear why you favor Froch to KO Kovalev

that was me, with tongue firmly in cheek. i'd pick kovalev to outpoint froch, but if it came to a firefight, with their respective chins, carl could prevail.

I don't see how Kovalev beats him to be honest? Carl has superior reach so can win rounds through his jab which is one of his key skills. He can stand and trade with Kovalev because his chin can stand up to it and well Kovalevs is suspect to be honest. The way to beat Froch is to be slick on the outside and very good on the inside which Kovalev is neither. He throws his big shot from the outside which will suit Froch. He's no Ward and ward is the only man who has the skills to beat him, maybe GGG too but I would still back Froch.

Yeah I know but if I just put no point in mentioning it then he would have said well why did you. Just thought I would cover myself that's all

I assume we're talking 175 and in that case I would disagree entirely. Blocking Kovalev's punches with your chin wont win you anything except a trip to a&e. My opinion is Kov pressures Froch all around the ring and brutalizes him. His relative youth will most likely give him the speed advantage as well.

That said if Froch can step up and win a fight vs Kov, no one will be able to talk **** about his 'legacy'.
Can't see it happening at all though as Froch doesnt even want to go up to 175 to fight Stevenson.

If kovalev can beat Bhop by completely out boxing him then I think he would be able to outbox froch on the outside. Froch could not come forward against kov IMO (where froch is most effective), it would be kov pushing carl back. Even if it did become a fire fight I'd expect kovs superior accuracy to give him the edge, he's one of the only fighters id favour over froch in a war just due to his ridiculous power.

People said the same thing with AA, Groves, Pascal, Taylor yet he took the shots and still won, I dont think Kovalev outboxes him, Froch wins rounds with his jab alone, his chin keeps him in the fight at times and he will KO him but as I said neither would step up or down anyway so its kind of irrelevant.

Cleverly managed to come forward until he got KO'd, and he is nowhere near the quality of Froch. Hopkins has been past it for years and is not even a good win, is just a good name to have on the record. I don't see it as ridiculous power either, I mean he is powerful but he had Hopkins there for the taking for 12 rounds and never once did he make the ref really think should I stop this. Yes Hopkins is a tough man and you probably aren't going to lay him flat out, but you can hit him with enough that the ref stops it, but for that you need to hurt him and Kovalev just didn't really do that.

Froch also when he weary of an opponent he is very underrated defensively. He is not great defensively and I am not trying to claim he is even good defensively but he doesn't just allow you to hit him unless he feels no threat. Second Groves fight for example, how many times did Groves catch him clean? Rarely in 8 rounds and Kovalev hasn't fought anyone that has prevented him from doing what he likes and he hasn't been hit much himself either.

I don't know who's ducking who, but I always felt Froch has unfinished business with Dirrell.

This thread is **** Froch has fought a who's who of fighters and recently got injured and that's why Chavez is fighting Fonfara. Froch just fought his mandatory TWICE he deserves to pick his next fight. Degale had his shot but got beat by Groves, GGG said he isn't moving up til he finishes up at MW , and Ward hasn't fought in forever. You also can't duck a fighter you have previously lost to. I am a Ward fan but he needs to fight the Dirrel brothers, Degale, Groves, or move up to LHW anyway and not rehash old fights.

The people who argue Froch's career means he deserves to cherry pick are the nu-wave Sky ********s.

The bloke's a multi-millionaire. He doesn't deserve a huge pay day for fighting a bum like Chavez. Either fight the best or **** off and enjoy your millions.

Thing is, Carl Froch was arguing that George Groves was NOT WORTHY of sharing a ring with him back in 2013 before they first fought .... and many people here agreed with that too. Groves was "not proven world class".

Then Froch struggles with Groves badly and then, to his credit, rematches him and beats him again, and people act as if Froch is on another level to everyone ...

... so Froch says "X, Y, Z are NOT WORTHY" and, again, almost everyone agrees, and says he doesn't have to fight them.

But last time Froch fought a "not world class / not worthy" opponent, the guy turned out to be a very good match for him.

So I can't take Froch or his supporters too seriously.

Just because you aren't proven world class doesn't mean that you aren't world class. Mayweather wasn't proven world class at one point but he turned out to be.
