Groves and Degale would have beaten that list
of fighters with the exceptions of Calzaghe and potentially Reid.

I do rate Wharton though and think he wouldn't look out of place in a ring with either if them.

I think Woodhall was very underated and would have beaten both. His height reach, jab and footwork was good when on form. When off form they both stood a chance.
Im not sure how either would have done with Starie and Francis from that time

Woodhall was a good solid fighter and like you said underrated, but I personally wouldn't have him beating Groves.

Styles make fights and I think Groves would have his number.. in terms of jab and establishing it from the first bell, footwork & the power + timing in the right hand.. which I think Groves would find the target often with as Woodhall did use to fall in with his shots.

That said Groves has still got to reach the level Woodhall did and clinch a world title - which I'm sure he will.

Pretty much echo these sentiments. No disrespect to Richie but I think Groves is a class above him. Degale is hard for me to judge as you don't know which James is going to show up. The Degale that battered smith us a force but the Degale that fought for the euro strap was hopeless.

This said I can't stand Degale as a man and it'd be hilarious if Groves turned his lights out in a rematch. In my eyes he still owes Groves money. McDonnell should have put his hand in his pocket too. You can't talk that type of game and then not back it.
