Degale fighting for inter continental belt on Mitchell undercard SURPRISE SURPRISE!

Boxing is in my blood and I'll never stray from this beautiful sport, but how many times have we seen this business take 2 steps forward then immediately take 3 steps back with the corrupt politics, international belt this and interim belt that...I always said that getting away from 15 round fights hurt big showdowns because it allowed for all these smoke and mirrors like catch weights and no mandatory opponents. Fighters like Winky get lost in no true division. If Boom Boom didn't kill Kim, we may still have 15 round fights. Not to get off topic, but I always thought they should have kept it to 15 but extended the breaks in- between rounds.

I'm going to sound like a nerd but I actually did a paper in HS on 60 seconds in between rounds. If a fighter gets rocked at the end of a round but survives the bell, 60 secs is enough time for the brain to rebalance on its stem. But it still is short enough to give the finisher enough time to air him out in the following round and go for the KO/TKO. Anything longer than 1 minute, like 90 secs, would give unfair advantage to the fighter, who got rocked, to be fresh again. it's difficult to get the balance right but a longer rest period would not only be good for fighters but it would also make the sport more appealing to TV companies as they would be able to make money from longer ads. it would then bring the ABC's, NBC's and CBS' back into the sport in America and more appealing for networks over here.

 

Doesn't make great fighters though does it?
