If true, what are the chances of a) seeing DeGale in competitive fights, or b) ever getting his rematch with Groves?

I hope we see both but we dont need to see the rematch yet.

I think the Groves result ****ed Degale mentally and it stalled his career.

You never see two young, unbeaten American prospects going at it, they leave that stuff till they are world champions.

I do feel that in a way that fight came earlier than it should have

Hi Tony, I know this isn't a 'bomber' thread as such but I wouldn't normally get the chance to have any sort of contact with you. Just wanted to say that I loved your effort vs Cleverly. My Dad and I are long-term boxing fans and we (he particularly) both thought you fought like a real old-timer. Great double jab, good footwork, good combinations and alround a good display of simple alround boxing skills. You faded a bit later on and maybe it came a touch early for you but I'd love to see a re-match. Enjoying your career Tony and love your 'Froch-like' fight anyone attitude. It's exactly what us fans want and admire in our fighters. Keep up the good work fella!!

If he has gone with Henessey then fair play to him- he's probably taken a cut in pay for more exposure. As for the way he is promoted, I'd think he'll fight as the main event on Kid Galahad's cards.

Pretty good move really. Miles more exposure on Channel 5 than with Boxnation fighting over in Denmark. Hope kicks on with his career.

The problem for DeGale is that Groves doesn't need to fight him again. He's won twice, beaten a common opponent in much more impressive fashion, and is clearly on his way to better things.

James has a lot to prove.

Agreed. Groves has always had a mental edge over him, as proved by the playground bullying DeGale attempted to use.

Fans were calling out for it. It was a good, competitive fight with some genuine ill-feeling behind it, and Groves was mandatory for the British title. There was no way DeGale would have ducked Groves based on hi previous loss to him, and there was no way Groves wouldn't push for the fight or for James to vacate.

Just one of those things. It's proved the making of Groves, but the undoing of DeGale.

I still feel he is only a percentage of his ability at light-heavy.

With his frame at Cruiser the extra pounds should be very helpful.

Miranda is past his best but certainly no mug and can seriously bang, like the Khan-Garcia fight showed, they only need to land clean once.

    Good luck Tony :good

Is he actually an alright bloke? He annoyed a lot of people in the build up to the Groves fight.

what do you think hes going to say if its his mate?

Degale on 5 for a year or two would do wonders for him, and the opponents can never be too bad if hes going to be defending his EBU title!

Not for the fans it didn't. As a fan of boxing, this is what I want to see. Competitive fights, rather than trying to preserve the 0 like twats. This is what we call for, and we complain when we don't get these fights. De Gale's career may have suffered a setback because of the Groves fight, but I don't care about that one bit. That's for his promoter to worry about. I'm just glad they fought each other, rather than fighting no hopers.
