people forget abut this... but he won a Majority decision against him.. But he was very lucky and unimpressive that night it should have been another loss, Wilczewski bossed him.

I personally think Degale is getting overhyped right now, can't see him lasting too long as champ..

It's the truth. Degale gt a gift against a Euro level fighter, lost to Groves and apart from his close win against a faded Dirrell.. he's beat nobody... yet some people are overrating him massively saying hes gonna rule the super middleweight division lol I don't think so :hi:

Didn't DeGale struggle with injury around that time ? Gilmores Groin I think it was ? Looks a different fighter ,much more mobile and a hurtful puncher now

Yes, it was Gilmore' groin, which affected his movement a lot, prevented him from moving as he'd like and turning, ducking, getting power and leverage into his punches.

A close fight does not equal a robbery. It could have gone either way.

Degale was coming off a loss, and I often dont think some fighters recover from a loss straight away and have to get their confidence back. That doesnt apply to all, but I think some.
I recall Degale looking hurt, and having a tough fight and think I scored it a draw, though cant recall for sure now, but seem to also think that if I had to have an overall feel to the fight that I would have said for Degale.

It was for the European title and I thought they had brought in a rule about a fighter not contesting that title if coming straight off a loss

It was a very poor performance from Degale - and I'm not a fan - but to use this to try and discredit it him as a fighter now is fairly silly.

He was coming off a tough loss he never envisaged taking from somebody he hated, was carrying an injury and suffering mentally. He then wet onto be terribly represented and suffered motivation problems if I remember correctly, having a series of **** fights in **** venues before coming back in to the fold properly.

He's a very different fighter to what he was then but not as good as some would have you believe. Ward would destroy him and I feel a less rusty Dirrell would have beaten him fairly soundly. I wouldn't be surprised if Bute beat him. At least he's getting good money for taki that fight.

Same scorecard I had and if im not mistaken wasnt Degale suffering from a shoulder injury? since he recovered from that his powers really come through in stopping both Periban and Gonzales and dropping Dirrell twice . . . .

That being said Degale has the tendency of getting far too complacent in fights which is his biggest flaw, he could have dominated/stopped Dirrell but got lazy and let Dirrell back into the fight. Dont agree with him fighting Bute at all (at this point its like fighting a walking corpse) but money talks i suppose

    Yes, well-documented.

I never understood how Jean Pascal could get a free pass for a sub-par performance (but still a clear victory) over a mediocre (relatively speaking, when viewed through a 'world-class' prism) fighter in Kuziemski, but DeGale cops flack essentially for the same exact situation with no lesser a fighter in Wilk.

Wilczewski vs. Kuziemski actually would've been a great little all-Pole tear-up. :think

Hell, could still be, they're both about the same age.
