Degale/Groves in comparison to Benn/Watson

Degale like Benn came out in all the fanfare and lost his 'o' just like Benn 2 decades ago.

Will their careers take a similar route ie Degale win the world title whereas Groves finishes slightly short.

I am expecting FW to go the Khan-post-Prescott route with Degale. Against a safe fighter next who he can look spectacular against followed by a name like Jesse Brinkley or Peter Manfredo, and then an alphabet title.

Groves I can see hitting a Euro/domestic ceiling and miss out at the very top.

There is bound to be some weak world champion at some point that one of them can steal a win from.

This. If your defintion of "world champ" is lax enough then DeGale will probably become one at some point.

Eubank was better than Benn and DeGale is better than Groves.

Utter rubbish. Degale is a hype job, plain and simple. And groves has beaten him twice. Chunky is going nowhere fast.

    Groves hasn't beaten DeGale once.

I don't listen to the judges. I trust my own eyes.

Let's revisit this one in 5 years time.

The cream will rise to the top.

You trust your own bias. Groves beat degale. He neutralized and controlled him. The best James could do was put the head in.

He's so fundamentally poor, there's no way he makes a legal of any note.

I do trust my own bias, fair point.

DeGale needs a new trainer but Frank will sort that out for him.

After that -- watch him soar.

If Groves is ranked higher than DeGale in 5 years time then you can feel free to laugh at me.

Let's not forget, the WBA announced that the winner of Benn-Watson would be made their mandatory challenger. Watson and Benn were 3 and 4 in WBC ratings at the time of their fight. They were far in advance of Groves and DeGale. I think Groves is 2-3 years off a world title fight (IF he gets that far), and DeGale is behind Groves.

The likes of Don Lee and Tim Williams were streets ahead of Paul Smith and Kenny Anderson and they weren't just beaten they were obliterated.

SMW is one of the most competitive divisions at the mo imo

They will both have to wait a while, Stieglist is the weakest but he wont ever leave Germany

Other than that Bute, Ward & Froch are all far beyond James & Jorge though Froch vs either of them might be a possibilty next year:bbb
