Degale & Groves vs the Elite SMW

I don't know why people think that super middle is a superior division to bantam, when Donaire inevitably leaves then there will be a more than a legitimate argument that 168lbs is superior, but until that day comes 118lbs is easily at the pinnacle. For me anyways.

Anyhow, talk of either of these two taking on the best in the division is laughably premature, they're both still prospects after all, and haven't ever grown out of that level. Just because DeGale won the European title against a, frankly, average opponent doesn't make him a contender all of a sudden.

Nor did a win over Paul Smith make him a contender, and a win over Smith for Groves still won't elevate him from ''encouraging up and comer'' standard. That's not a knock on either, it's merely where they're both at right now. Nothing they've done thus far indicates they're ready for anyone approching the top level, much less the ''elite''.

There's no rush necessary, we all knew that Groves needed time to develop, and suffering a loss allowed it to finally dawn on people that the same was the case for DeGale. They've got ample time to iron out the flaws and gain some needed experience before attempting stepping up to the highest level.

 

To be fair to Groves he himself has said that he is a long way from from elite level


DeGale talks himself up more and is more confident but we see from his last 2 fights that he is still miles away from elite level despite what he says to the contrary

 

They won't be ready in two years time.

 

Not worthy of discussion at this point, why would you put Groves or Degale in against any of those guys yet?

I would givem them a few years to start looking at world titles, im sure they can win some **** world title and in 2 years time there will probably be even more world titles.

Maybe do one for every age group aswell! Then Degale and Groves can both be world champions!

 

Why do people consider Dirrell an elite 168lb'er?

He's only beaten Abraham by DQ in a fight which he might have gone onto lose by stoppage and has been on the shelf for nearly 2 years.

 

Neither are at that level yet. What is the rush. Plenty good domestic fights around with Anderson Jeffries etc!!!

 

I think a lot of DeGale fans are still clinging onto their dream he can be some special champion. So rather than having their excitement checked by the loss, they’re trying to boost themselves again.

 

Neither are ready, not for a number of years but Degale will be rushed towards a title shot by Fwank and will get soundly beaten. Groves will go further because Booth will call the shots and he won't be rushed. Groves accepts he still has lot to learn & will develop this why he'll have longer career mixing it with the elite of the 168lbers. Degale already thinks he's arrived:deal
