The guy has very good skills. But he's lazy, he needs to be more aggressive and stop enjoying himself; And his physical abilities are quiet limited. I can't see him compete with elite fighters, now or in the future (too arrogant to change his mindset). Your thoughts?
He's currently DeGale MBE, maybe he'll move up to OBE but I'd be very surprised if he became DeGale CBE
Might get an alphabet belt but don't see him beating any of the top boxers! He seems very lazy in the ring. Also, he looks very soft like he could (almost) make 160Lbs
The talents there it's up to him really. I'll agree he comes across as lazy and believing his own **** too much. If he can curb this mindset then he could be right up there.
I wouldn't say Degale is gifted by any means. There is some talent, questionable hand speed coupled by a questionable chin. Those two factors suggest he is not going far (i.e. beyond C level fighters) However he might squeak by an aging Kessler or Abraham if his handlers do it right. I also don't like his stance. He keeps his hands down and sometimes has a tendency to square up when he uses his left (forgot he was southpaw). So super middleweights with some boxing skills and decent speed (Super 6 guys) should be able to KO him inside 10.
He's VERY talented and I had him beating Groves. But was pushed a bit faster than game developed, and I don't see much improvement lately, which is a sign he may need to switch to a more experienced trainer who handles slickness well. The Groves match, the build up, the afterfight were all fun, wouldn't mind see them fight again somewhere down the road.
talented and has potential to go far!! he beat groves imo and is fighting at european level still early in his pro career defo potential to be future champ (especially in the current climate where nearly every fight is a title match)...... people read too much into his mentality/arrogance... he idolises mayweather and wanted to emulate him by becoming the most wealthy cash cow of the sport by playing the arrogant bad guy... i think he already regrets it because you can tell he's not enjoying getting booed wherever he goes!!
He beat groves, they were pretty much fighting at a handicap, DeGale needed 8-9 rounds to win, I felt sorry for him. If you look at who is at 168 only people IMO above him Ward, Froch, Steiglitz, Bute and Dirrell.
