I can see DeGale winning by stoppage based on superior handspeed.

However I hope Smith batters him as DeGale really annoys me.

I disagree. He cuts so easy. If it's messy, he could get stopped on cuts in 8 rounds.

Degale has faster hand speed, and a better array of punches.

    He's winning via beatdown.

By "messy" i don't mean bloody. What Smith has to do is smother Degale, lots of clinching and wrestling. Don't commit from the outside, just lay on the inside and stay on point, frustrate Degale with his presence. That's his best chance of winning the fight IMO. If he gets cuts then so be it...employ your strategy and do your best to avoid getting cut, but you can't fight a different fight just because you "might" get cut. If he stands of he won't have much of a chance.

DeGale needs to not smother his work here. If he gets too close he'll let Smith hold and make a mess of the fight.

I wonder who gets Mick Williamson in their corner? Could play a part if Smith cuts.

Interesting point you make there. I can't call it to be honest. Smith will defo want him.
I think smith is far more likely to cut, and because of the job Williamson has done he will be willing to pay him top dollar.
On a side note, as much as cuts are smiths weakness, degale is so open to an uppercut. If smith employs his work on the inside and brings this into play he could have some real success. When I saw smith against cello renda, that's the shot that really did him, and renda is a similar size height wise to degale, and again it was upclose work that brought him success.
    This is getting interesting indeed!

I think DeGale and Jimmy use Terry Steward for cuts anyway.

It kills me to say this but I hope DeGale pulls through here. Then hopefully we can see him take on Groves fairly soon which would be a great fight.
Best case scenario for me would be DeGale gets through this but gets a real test in the process. Maybe then he will check his ego a little and stop doing that ridiculous pose before and after fights like he is in the WWF!

If groves and degale are on similar levels, and Jenny Anderson nearly stopped groves, then by default smith is ahead if both. Simples. People are wetting themselves far too much over these two. Let time tell its story.

It really does say a great deal when your trying to prove a 30 fight title holder is better then a 8 fight novice.
