:rofl:rofl Come on now. Everyone, and I mean everyone was saying that DeGale would amount to nothing after his first few fights, because he looked feather fisted and couldn't turn his punches. Now we have people saying "always knew he would be a champion". Get off the bandwagon. :dead:dead Regarding the fight, he looked excellent. Very mature performance. Smith was no soft touch and was throwing bombs, and DeGale handled them very well. He showed a good Chin and great offensive skills. He'll go further than Cleverly. :deal He's still nowhere near the level of Froch, but his body will grow and he's progressing quickly. He seems to want the big fights and actually enjoys the boos and jeers as they galvanise him.
He's infinitely more talented than Froch...but the idea of him stepping up to that class right now is outrageous. He's a total novice.
Disagree, he didnt do anything special, he beat a guy who before the fight forgot to pack his slippers and pipe. He beat an older fella thats all, nothing special about it. I absolutely hate it when people like smith get totally disregarded, just to make way for the new so called superstar. Typical Warren Fighter, guided right, but doesnt tell the full story imo... It is all about timing as they say, but at the same time it is about taking the absolute ****.... James Degale IMO is a typical FW fighter, who will be matched cleverly, and when FW has recieved a sufficient return due to his matchmaking abilities, will be sold out to the highest bidder. Next.
Yes he is :deal shame he doesn't follow through with his punches, he needs to punch through his target instead of pulling back ala Calzaghe the later years, the way he is so fluid switch hitting like its natural in only 9 fights is impressive
He's still probably 15-20 fights away from 'peaking' as well. He impressed me a lot tonight. Showed he can step up in class.
Classy performance from De Gale. I never understood the hate he got from day one. But stepped up to his current challenge in the lions den. Kudos.
hes a cocky little ******* but thats gonna make him a lot of money in the future. he was outstanding tonight. i wanted to see smigga put it on him a bit more though. looked like smigga just cant let his hands go. i overrated smith but i will still support him :good degale is fantastic!! he will be world champ. :deal
Didnt like him to begin but the ott hate he was getting started to get annoying, after 4-5 fights started to like him and am on the bandwagon for the long haul. He is very good, should be an enjoyable journey.
yeah i said chunky would win by stoppage, hes a cracking fighter. i especially like his tooked in gaurd with left shoulder, he brings his head and his shoulder together with his left gaurd very well, that will be a very good defence against the hard hitting right handers when he moves up to world level. well done chunky.
dry your eyes, smith was beaten by the way better boxer. got nothing to do with disregarding smith, he is older than de gale, and if he was any good he would have been at a higher level by now.
he won me over with his performance last night. i've never rated smith but thought he'd at least give degale a few things to think about. excellent performance
He is special. However, he needs people to start warming to him and really needs to raise his game in being popular and fan friendly. At the moment, after 8-9 fights he's excellent.
he looked so chilled out in the dressing room before the fight was impressed he said his the best domestically apart from Froch. Shows he knows where he's at, where he want's to be and how he intends to get there. Not overconfident just confident and so he should be.
