Yes an olympic gold medalist, a fighter who hadn't lost since he was twelve, cleaned out his division, and beat Froch who KO'ed Grives who beat Degale is overrated. Nice try though troll.

Even if that were true, OP gives a whole new meaning to the term "Brittard" and really needs to cut it out with these threads. It's growing tiresome, he's basing this purely on Degale being British.... Cheering for your own is fine, I don't see a problem with that, but it shouldn't cloud your judgement when it comes to picking/predicting fights.

How did Ward clean out a division? He beat a faded, unwell, double vision suffering Kessler (who had been beaten by the old end of career previous champ), who then beat Froch who beat Abraham and Bute, but Ward didnt once face a top undefeated or top prime SMW.
You seem to be rating Ward based on what Froch has done. Froch was a fatigued, middle 30s fighter, who had been exposed previously and on a bad run of a loss, beating a MW coming off a loss and then a Mdec over a faded boiled down fighter who couldnt compete at SMW years previously.
Ward has a close win over fatigued Froch, where Ward didnt take any of the risks or travels Froch did, but I think Froch has more claim to doing alot of the cleaning up with wins over undefeated Bute, undefeated Dirrell, only lost by DQ Abraham, undefeated Groves,

Do you see me starting threads saying Callum Smith beats Ward or Froch wins a rematch? No, because they have no chance against him. Anyone that KSAB will accept DeGale is a legit threat to Ward

Kessler was 30, Froch even now is the best SMW in the world. I consider Ward retired as of this moment. Dirrel was robbed against Froch, Bute(what has he ever done). Froch got to fight Groves because Ward wasn't fighting. Froch fights a lot more than Ward, so he naturally gets credit for beating new fighters.

I find it mind boggling that you are downplaying Ward's resume and yet bigging up Degale, who hasn't beaten a single top 10 fighter in his division his entire career

I wouldn't go that far but Degale is better than given credit for, including better than America's other Andre (Dirrell, who is quicker than DeGale and quite a bit faster than Ward but has a much lower ring IQ and worse timing and punch accuracy than either, and both would outbox him)

Why is Degale the best SMW in the world, he's beaten no one. Grives beat him, so Groves is better than he is and had fought better competition. Also Froch destroyed Groves, and has proven his worth at fighting at a world class level. DeGale loses against both.

I'm not a fan of Chunky but I do appreciate that he's a talented fighter - but I'm just not quite sure what you base the claim that he's the best British SMW on.

Beating Periban just doesn't elevate him that highly, nor does stopping Gonzales (a more impressive win IMO) - he might be the guy to take over the UK SMW mantle when Froch retires, and I consider him better than Groves or Mundo (both of whom I prefer stylistically), but he simply hasn't done enough yet to prove than he's better than Froch.

Personally I thought Degale won the fight against Groves, he was the busier fighter and actually hurt Groves a couple of times

Since that fight Degale looked poor against less than stellar opposition but recently since the gonzales fight his power has really started to show, I think he has better power and a better chin than Groves and oddly enough I think losing that fight humbled him enough to give him a little bit more hunger

Saying that beating the liked of Periban and Gonzales is worlds away from beating the likes of Froch/Ward but Froch is interested in having a big money fight in vegas whilst Ward doesnt seem to want to fight anybody.

Still with Ward's inactivity and Froch coming to the end of his career whose to say Degale wouldnt beat them?

seeing as Groves is aiming at a shot vs Dirrell next for the WBC title and Degale running for the IBF whether it be Froch or not then we could see an all british unification match . . . . dont think theres been one since maccarinelli/haye so well looking forward to next year

Bull****! I strongly dislike Ward's style, but honour where honour is due:he has collected some very fine scalps in his short active period in the paid ranks.DeGale cant hold a candle to him in terms of beaten quality opponents.
