Yep, he even slapped with the jab in his first fight or two. If it worked for Calzaghe... ;)

That's alright, people seem to like a slappy super middleweight on here.

He gets hit too easily. Obviously he would not fight the same way against a better opponent but his defence was poor tonight. Still too early to tell.

I'd put money on de Gale over both the fellas in the main event, no worries about rushing James against British oponents.

It's surprising, you would get thrown out for that in the olympics.

I don't know why he does it. He can obviously throw a proper left-hook otherwise he'd get called up on his slapping ones in the amateurs. It's like Andre Berto, he can obviously jab properly but he just slaps out with the back of his hand.

the punches he stopped the guy with certainly were not slaps. i was impressed with DeGale, he is only going to get better and he has allot of the tools there most will never learn. great footwork, defence.

I thought he looked good last night and can see him progressing well as a pro.It was good to see him dedicate the win to Darren Sutherland showed a bit of class.

I was impressed with him tonight....... 1000% better than that rubbish he served up on his debut.

Needs a step up though - that guy was alright, but clearly not able to test him sufficiently. That said, he dealt with him as you would expect, so you can't be too harsh.

Yeah they were. At least two of them were almost the flat of the glove, he didn't turn his wrist over at all.

He was decent, didn't see a world beater in their though. Maybe been a bit harsh but while he can do a bit of everything he doesn't seem to have that 'x factor'.... Good last night though, so is def improving.

thought he looked pretty good, but then again ,anyone would against someone who can't punch back(hardly).
i was more impressed with frankie gavins opponent,at least his record suggested he could fight, even though gavin outclassed him.very impressed with gavin last night
