    tragic

How can they give the fight to groves when he was on the backfoot the whole fight throwing about 10 jabs a round??

All the heavy shots were degale's. All the aggression was from degale. Without degale, no punches would have been thrown.

No faith in british boxing whatsoever. 'outboxed'? Groves was on his bike throwing the occasional counterpunch just incase the fight got stopped. You should never be able to win a fight with those 'tactics' - at no point was degale hurt, threatened, under pressure or not in control. can you say that for groves?

    PATHETIC

Was he ****. Groves lost the rounds where he was hurt or not in control but outlanded DeGale overall and won enough rounds.

It was that close I wouldn't have been crying robbery if DeGale had won but Groves just edging it seemed fair enough to me.

Because DeGale wasn't landing enough. He was out-landed, he was outthought. Could have gone either way due to him landing the more eye catching punches, but this is "boxing" not "fighting".

George Groves threw more and landed more than Degale. He executed a well planned game plan down to a tee and deserved the decision end of story. Robbery my arse.

Indeed. Very close, could have gone either way, but Groves just edged it in my book. There's no doubt that DeGale landed the harder shots, but they tended to be in rounds he was winning anyway. He didn't manage to tear away very many of the rounds in which he was missing with his own punches whilst taking more in return from Groves.

It's incredible how many people do not realise that you score rounds individually in boxing, instead being of the belief that you look at the fight on a whole and draw crude conclusions thusly.

degale lost that fight my biggest issue though isn't with the fight at all it is with the overly bias unprofessionalism of johnny nelson it borders on the ridiculous groves out boxed him from the back foot i had him winning the 1st 4/5 i gave degale no more than four rounds . frank warren is also a sore loser. groves also landed more scoring punches.

If you collected 100 scorecards for that fight I doubt there would be many that scored every round the same

I completely understand why you could score it to DeGale but not by a wide margin

Thats a robbery, this was a very, very close fight

Bring on the rematch when there are world straps on the line & it wouldnt surprise me if DeGale won one first

It was not a robbery at all. DeGale's arrogant ass should have thrown more punches.

I decided to put a bet on Groves today to win. Was going to bet Groves by KO, then found it was better odds for Groves on points, so just bet on Groves to win at 11/4.
I thought initially DeGale, but thought this morn that George has better footwork and DeGale seems to plant his feet to throw fast combinations. I thought Groves would box on the outside and decided to bet on George.
I thought if the Anderson and Smith fights hadnt have happend respectively, I would have clearly picked for George. It wasnt a confident bet, but a gut feeling that Groves would box on the outside.

Before the result was announced DeGales trainer said something to DeGale and told DeGale to keep quiet. It looked like they thought they had confirmation of a win???
