Ok maybe not Frampton but this Haymon thing just isn't working is it ? Has anyone made any more worse career decisions than Degale ? Selby could be headlining Cardiff shows with Cleverly and there's a market cause Liam Williams has proved that but instead he's in limbo and McDonnell wins 2 big fights in the US and goes up on bricks ? Do they have management ? Are they being advised ( badly ) ? Are they stupid ? This really is a crazy, impossible to comprehend sport isn't it ?
McDonnell isn't with Haymon. I felt at the time the DeGale move was a bad one. The Selby one was OK because most top fighters around that division are with Haymon but Al has too many fighters and not enough dates. You got the impression with Frampton, Haymon thought Santa Cruz was gonna win and wanted to feed Carl to him (LOL! In your face Al!) I don't think Haymon is doing Khan any favors either, as apparently Haymon had no direct involvement in making the Canelo fight.
Yeah degale was a bit odd, but he probably saw what haymon bid for his fight and fancied some of that, even if most of the big SMW fights at the time were either in Europe or with Andre Ward (who isn't a haymon guy), which just leaves Jack which could mean degale thought he could get a $5m+ purse to fight jack around now in a unification? Can remember him saying after signing with Haymon that if he does things right his next 6 fights will set him up very nicely in life which would explain the haymon route, esp as he was struggling to sell out shopping centres on C5 a few years back McDonnell probably played things right, from memory he's made well over $300k off the two kameda fights which would have been way more than what Eddie would have paid him, Selby I think got quite a bit from that midweek fight in Phoenix. Frampton was in a bit of a tricky situation - Hearn was clearly a no go, wanted exposure that BN couldn't give and Harmon had a few guys who he could earn big from, his next move will be interesting
