"Partied Too Much, Women!" James DeGale REVEALS why he lost to Chris Eubank Jr & CALLS OUT Jake Paul He looks and sounds punch drunk. I didn't like the look in his eyes. He should stay out of the ring and to be honest, he looks like he has some kind of serious neurological illness.
Punch drunk? Nah, that’s just classic Chunky — he’s always sounded like that. I’m uploading the Ringside interview with Groves, still the best episode ever in my book. James has always been James: no real schooling, a bigger mouth, and emotionally stunted from the moment he won the gold medal and his talent found fame. No wonder his mum’s retired happily in Cyprus while he’s the one talking about a comeback. Doubt he even realises he stiffed the taxman for nearly 400k — and now he’s the one left holding the bag. This content is protected Another good one. Still don’t get why Froch was shitting his kecks in all the build up. Understand him being tentative and petrified to unload in the fight but I still don’t get the build up.
Froch never had that inner belief in himself the way Groves did. Not sure why, but I remember him even admitting it in the past — saying he doubted himself in the Taylor fight and gave Jermain too much respect early on. Groves always had that self-belief, and Booth only reinforced it, same way he did with Haye. I still think if he’d stayed with Booth, he’d have beaten Froch. Going his own way with Paddy — who’s a solid trainer but really more of a No.2 (as shown when he was in Lamon Brewster’s camp) — didn’t serve him as well. Ironically, Froch has that belief now, but at almost a delusional level — the kind of mindset a lot of elite athletes end up needing to reach the top. The second Groves fight was huge for him, especially with how it ended. Maybe the sports psychologist he was seeing helped, and maybe even Fast Car gassing him up played a role too. That said, Carl was a warrior. The Taylor fight, the Bute fight, Pascal, both Kessler scraps — such a strong career. But I’ve always believed Chunky would’ve beaten him too if Froch hadn’t vacated and retired after the second Groves fight. Wish they’d bring Ringside back too — even a DAZN version. Those shows added so much to the build-up and gave real insight you just don’t get now. Instead, we’re stuck with Matchroom’s in-house fluff dressed up as analysis.
