Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by GrovesVDegale, Mar 23, 2010.

  1. DeGale is set to fight Sam Horton in his 'title' fight on May 25th. Horton is 14-1 with 2 KO's.

What do people think of this match-up?

Nothing wrong in losing to Renda :nono;) Was also the domestic knockout of the year last year IMO.

DeGale will walk it, but its not a bad opponent for his 7th fight.

I think the Groves-Samuels stoppage was a wee bit premature, but, as if the bogus title wasn't enough, a shite opponent as well.

Lets hope Gavin doesn't get the same treatment; he doesn't need to be protected :deal

Very good fight. Hortan is decent and at a goof level but obviously noy in the class of DeGale. Hopefully another impressive performance will set him up for a domestic title fight.

Hopefully he goes for the British and not afrobum title.

  6. I don't think Horton will last too long but he isn't a bad fighter and will give it a go for as long as he's in there.

Why not match him with Renda and give him the payday??, lord knows he's earned it, this is a garbage match up, Horton was very novice like against Renda and has no power to speak of.

Nathan King was a much better opponent 2 fights ago, backwards step for sure despite the mickey mouse belt up for grabs.

Smith is so **** he managed to have two stinkers with guys who respectively had domestic fight of the year with each other.

With a good gameplan, Degale can probably beat him. And I'm not particularly big on Degale.

If there wasn't a ''title'' on the line it would be a half decent match on paper.

That said, why not stick DeGale in with Renda - or was he badly cut last time against Samuels?

Beating a guy that's been beaten by Renda.... whos been beaten by Samuels twice.... who in turn was stopped in a round by Groves - :think - could probably be better.

Granted him and Groves are at different stages despite a similar number of fights, not the greatest comparison to make on reflection. Same with Gavin.

Horton's not a bad fighter. Looked a decent boxer that wants to scrap alot but his chin lets him down. Good fight for degale

DeGale would embarrass Smith and probably stop him mid way. Great fight to make though.
