DeGale looked as bad as Ray did v Norris at the age of 34, Ray fought at light middle v Norris but the year before beat Duran at 168, could DeGale as he is now have beaten either of these versions of Ray?
He had the size to give Ray problems... I still thought Ray had his moments against Norris, who should have been DQd for hitting Leonard when he was clearly down... Against a bigger guy like Degale Ray would be in for a tough night, but a washed up version of Degale I still think a 33 tear old Leanord could get out of there
I think Ray. Ray was lucky to fight two of his old buddies in 1989 which gave him a advantage of knowing them and they aged with him, so it was not that much of a risk. But I think he was still good .In 1989 Hearns beat him up but Tommy was still good and Ray's best punches in that fight were landed on the break but he did well and hung in there with 12 with Tommy in the rematch. He outboxed Duran but was cut and that was not as easy as the cards said, but he knew both Hearns and Duran. Still those guys are top notch fighters even in 1989, so Ray was good and I think he beats Degale by decision..
