One things for sure... DeGale hasnt fought anyone as hard, durable and aggressive as Smigga...

    ...but on the other hand...

...Smith hasnt fought anyone as slick, fast and cocky as DeGale!!!

This is a very interesting fight!! Hope Smigga wins. He needs to throw DeGale off his rhythm :good

If degale fights to his full capability he should dismiss smigga late on

george groves had his first live opponenent last time out, in kenny anderson.
james degale has his first live opponent in paul smith.
i can see smith giving it a good go, he will be determined in front of his home crowd, but i think degale wins, probably on cuts, in about 4 to 6 rounds.

This, minus the cuts comment. Think DeGale may just be too fast and too slick for Smith. It's his first live opponent and no doubt he will want to win such a contest in a more convincing fashion than Groves managed against Anderson.

I recently interviewed James about the Smith fight and he's a real nice guy despite the media character he seems to be tarnished with; though I concede he has done himself no favours with all that chat.

It's here if anyone is interested; http://www.sportsvibe.co.uk/degale-can-see-world-stage-on-the-horizon/

    Probably not.

DeGale has only accumulated 21 rounds of boxing as a professional, a total surpassed by Paul Smith in his last two bouts. DeGale hasn't fought past 5, but that isn't to say he can't. I guess we'll see, but when I interviewed him I can tell you he was in top shape.

In my article (above post), he told me "I’ve been getting heaps of hours and rounds in the boxing gym and been working on 15 round sparring with Jim McDonald, who is a fitness fanatic. I’ll never be unfit for a fight, I’ll always be prepared. No one needs to be worried if it does go into the later rounds.”

DeGale takes this on a wide UD.

I would be surprised if Smith takes more than 3 rounds.

Paul Smith lost to Tony Quigley in my opinion, and that's coming from someone who always rooted for Smith since I saw him on 'The Contender' years ago.

Smith is a good fighter with solid fundamentals but he hasn't got the boxing brain that DeGale has got.

    I'm taking DeGale on points.

I don't particularly like him but I respect the fact he's taking this fight early on in his career. It'll be his first test and I have the feeling that he has too much quality for Smith. I expect him to have some rough moments but his natural advantages in speed and ability will help him to come out the other side.

If he wins this one in style, I'll be interested to see how he's matched in the next 12-18 months.

I don't think degale will give a **** about the crowd to be honest, we all know he's a cocky gob shite.

I think it all comes down to degale having the right gameplan and sticking to it and showing some maturity.

degale stoppage on accumilation of punches late or a wide UD for me.

i think it could be very similar to the Khan vs Limond fight. I expect Degale to grow into the fight as it progresses and knock Smith out mid to late.
