But Truax, although crude, has some basic fundamentals that CEJ lacks. Degale ok might be past his best but still has enough boxing ability to beat CEJ. It was clear from the Groves fight, and the Saunders fight because CEJ hasn't really improved, that when Junior is in against top level boxers his style doesn't work.
I wouldn't say Degale is inferior to Groves. I thought Degale beat Groves in their bout. I don't hate Degale so I was unbiased when I watched their fight. Degale got a draw against Jack, who beat Groves. Who has Groves beaten that makes him far superior to Degale? Rebrasse, Cox, Murray? Degale has enough left to beat CEJ who has no real boxing ability.
yeh this. When he was focused and his ego hadnt exploded, DeGale was better than Groves, not by much. That DeGale, though still prone to being lazy at times, would have enough to outpoint "try to block your punches with my forehead" Eubank Jnr. Its a bit wierd when people argue against the evidence at hand.
Tough, CEJ is clearly very flawed but DeGale looks completely finished at the top level. I'm favouring CEJ, think he'll be busy enough to earn a decision.
Eubank is flawed but I wouldnt fancy Degale now. Degale is a shot fighter and I dont think he has enough in the tank now to keep Eubank away. I think it would be a messy fight and not a great watch Eubank to edge a decision. Degale went life and death twice vs Truax. I just cant see him beating anyone remotely decent anymore.
It's a calculated risk by DeGale, it will be a good pay day and he obviously believes he will beat Jr. Uzcat would have been a very difficult fight and not a very big payday (compared to Jr), DeGale is a two time world champion, so he has fulfilled his ambitions from Olympic Gold to World Title, it's all about money now. I personally have doubts he beats Jr, the style of Jr will cause DeGale serious problems based on his last two performances. DeGale and his Team have just calculated that financially by facing Jr with no world title on the line is a better gamble than fighting Uzcat and defending the IBF title. The moment DeGale dropped that title the possible Groves fight was gone, DeGale isn't fighting Groves (assuming Groves beats Smith) for challenger money and Groves isn't fighting a DeGale with no belts, a DeGale he has already beaten and giving him anything like a decent split. So realistically it was Uzcat or Jr, DeGale looks o have chose Jr. All that said, the impression we are given about the Eubanks negotiation tactics I wouldn't be surprised for this to drag on a little bit and DeGale get frustrated and just retire.
no neither are top level, i just think eubank's youth and speed is too much for degale at this point, all the tough fights have taken it out of him
Degale has looked cr*p in his last couple of outings, but Eubank is pretty crude. I would think if Degale is in good physical condition for the fight he should be able to outbox Eubank, but it's a big if. From what we have to go on I think Eubank will take it on the cards or get one of his rubbish stoppages where he gets his opponent up against the ropes and lets loose one of his frantic flurries and the ref jumps in. I don't see him properly KO'ing Degale.
We seen Eubank against BJS and Groves and he's faster than both. He lost to both of them because his boxing is low level. Degale has boxed at a higher level his whole career. CEJ has a chance against a brawler but in with an Olympic medallist it's different gravy. Degale has enough left to beat CEJ and make it look easy.
