This sums it up quite nicely. It took me a while to warm to DeGale but there is no doubting he has an abundance of talent - too much for Groves.
I don't think Groves has the legs to stay away for 12 rounds. He trains with Haye, who does very little roadwork. If you watch Groves fight he wastes far too much energy, whereas DeGale has really good movement and accurate punching.
Groves is British title level at best. DeGale has that something special. I still doubt that Groves will take this fight
havent really been following de gale on sky sports and iv rarely seen groves but id back groves from what iv seen
watch DeGale's last fight and I think you will change your mind. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8RvaVQp_Ms[/ame]
I don't see anything special in Groves. He is a solid fighter but nothing he does makes me take notice. DeGale does everything better than Groves, and their respective defenses are worlds apart. I don't think Groves can realistically compete with DeGale and I can't believe Booth is even letting him go into this fight, because it will be hard for Groves to come back after the beating he is going to take. I hate DeGales attitude.
In the AMS i think they went 2-2 against each other, but that was many years ago and degale has evolved extremely well since then. Nobody thought he would be at the level he is at this early into his pro career if at all. He will stop "Ugly Kid" around the 7/8 round after a long humiliating beating where Ugly kid gets beaten psychologically and has to quit boxing. Anderson who IIRC was a called up two weeks before the fight showed how much of a glass heart, stamina less guy he is aqround domestic level. he didnt want to be in there.
I think against Smith he could get away with the feeble jab, he was setting up other, more powerful punches and combinations. I've seen him in the amateurs and his jab is absolutely fantastic, he could beat Groves with his jab alone. :rasta
