Puts the winner back in the limelight after both fighters coming off defaeats. I think it's the right fight for Magee but if I was De Gale I'd be looking to avoid Magee for now
All that does is ridiculously illustrate the difference between European title level and decent New York fighter level.
I would certainly like to see this fight. DeGale straight back on the path to glory against a good level opponent.
Nothing gets you back on the path to glory like losing twice in a row. This is another example of how overrated DeGale is.
For the guy who said Khan had a bigger slip up than DeGale and still became World Champion one year later... Khan admitted the mistake's he made and changed trainer... DeGale still seem's like he is in denial
I don't think the European title is an important stepping stone for fighters anymore, because there isn't the bottleneck that there used to be. Look at most world class European fighters, I reckon barely half have held the title at some stage. Most of the opponents that come over these days are British level at best. Plus, once you've fought one European style, you've pretty much fought them all..... I'd prefer fighters to head Stateside and get some experience on those cards, the variety of opposition available is far superior.
And it's one thing getting caught cold and KO'd in the first, it's another to get outboxed over 12 rounds.
That's a true point, but Khan was definitely been written off much more because of it. Besides Degale didn't get out boxed for 12 rounds. He defintley didn't show all his ability in that match and it wasn't like he got beaten by a bum. I just can't see Magee beat the likes of Smith, Dilks or Horton as convincingly as Degale did.
i think we should all get behind degale, i had him beating george groves by 3 points, he deserves respect for getting in the ring with a fighter of magees calibre so soon.
Magee was destroyed by Bute, his confidence will be shot to bits, not a good match, this match would be a bit like the Smith match, for me he needs a bigger test to redeem his rep.
