It's tough, the temptation is always to strike while the iron is hot and really the very best DeGale can do is equal this gold, and would have to stay amateur for another 4 years to do so.

On the other hand, it would truly be a once-in-a-lifetime for a GB boxer to get the chance to defend his Olympic Gold Medal at a GB Games.

He should take it. £2 million is him set for life if he is sensible. 4 years until the next Olympics and what if he doesn't repeat the gold? Then his value plummets as he would also be 26 then so with less time on his hands.

However, he will do nothing of any note as a pro. Apart from being way over hyped in the UK, become rich and well known and then get to about British level at best and have everyone who knows **** all wondering why another hype job did not make it as a pro.

The whole system of making millionaires and headliners off the back of an Olympic medal is ****ing ******ed, but you cannot blame him if he takes the money, as I sure as hell would.

He should take the money probably; but he isn't going to do much as a pro. The Irish lad he "beat" in the Olympics would likely flatten him in the pros.

You have to wonder when the tv companies will learn, if ever.

You win an OLympic Gold medal........ Turn pro..

The world is your oyster and you have a lot of options right now, its a once in a lifetime chance to make a better life for yourself.

Strike while the iron is hot..

Just beware of what sharks are circling.. make correct promoter decision..

Degale is a great prospect.. has good appeal..

I think he can get more than that if he bluffs well enough. It's almost certain that Frank Warren was the one to make the offer, and right now FW is screwed if he doesn't get another big name under contract, and he has to do it fast.

Fair point, Warren is probably going to be as generous with the purse strings as he's ever been at the moment.

take warrens money, buy a house and invest the rest .

frank warren must be under severe pressure from the tv company`s to have a name fighter on his bills.

i think this guy has a lot of talent.

first time i ever saw him fight i knew he had something.

i've followed his progress ever since.

well pleased he took the gold.

i think this guy is a genuine good prospect for the pro's. :yep
